Aroma and flavor is grains and light citrus and a dry finish. Among the closer to the source German Pils I’ve had.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at 1808 American Bistro. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a thin white head that dissipates gradually. Spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of grassy hops and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a floral hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2013 First off, that is not how you spell wunderbar. It is how you pronounce it but not how you spell it. I find this profoundly irritating for some reason and am subtracting one point from overall impression. Don?t like it, give me a buzz at 1-800-DONT-CALL. In any case, this is a continental European style lager for lack of a more specific term. It is supposedly a Pilsener according to RateBeer as of October 2013 but I think it falls more in the category of a Dortmunder w/ its lighter bitterness and more floral hop character while not quite having the big malt character of a helles. It is a good beer though so it will still get a high score from me despite penalties.

12oz bottle (best by 10/24/2013 ABV 5.2% per bottle)- pours cloudy pale yellow with white head. Nose is hay, grass and citrus. A little bitter and refreshing. Latent bread qualities. Funderbar? more like underbar or as they say it in Henderson County, Kentucky: Bunderbar.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Moderate grain and hay for the malt, moderate to heavy herbs for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with hints of pepper and cardboard. Head is average size, fizzy/frothy, white with fair lacing and is fully lasting. Color is hazy, yet sparkling pale yellow. Flavor is moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate light, watery, with a fizzy carbonation. Pilseners are supposed to be light but the flavor is a little bland and the palate is weak in this one.

6 pack for 2 bucks. I’m not a huge pilsner fan, but Smuttynose makes great beers, so what the hell? Pours a hazy yellow color with a huge white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Smells and tastes more like your standard summer beer; grassy, wheat, slightly hoppy, very crisp. Body, carbonation are both average. Texture is slightly slick. Overall this is a decent pilsner. Not amazing but very easily drinkable and crisp. My bottle says 5.2% ABV.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (12 oz). Hazy yellow with a medium diminishing white head and some lacing. Aroma of grains, herbal notes, light pepper and light lemony presence. Taste is mild with cereals, lemon, light pepper notes, herbal and floral presence. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Maybe a tad watery. Clean. Extremely high drinkability and also very refreshing because of the light body and lemony notes. Really good.

NIce but quite hoppy and not graspy for being a Pislner. The name is nice and the features smooth.
