COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An authentic bavarian-style hefeweizen. Light and refreshing, with the hazy appearance and tangy flavor characteristic of its style.

Wheaty aroma. A little bit of clove in there. Light body. Wheat notes, and a slight lemony hint. Still, an abnormally restrained version of the style. Smutty is still a hit-and-miss brewery to me.

Bottle. Slightly hazy but near crystal clear, not much in the way of head. Little aroma, touch of yeast and a bit of zesty citrus but not much in the way of flavour. On the thin side, expecially for a hefeweizen. Almost diluted..

Had this bottled, will try on tap next time I'm at the brewery. This is ok, nothing special, but I'm not a huge fan of this style of beer anyway. Nothing new and special to say about this that hasn't been said in all the other reviews.

Pours hazy, brassy gold, hinting at green, and swarming with large bubbles that strangely coalesce into a consistent, finely beaded quarter-inch head. Aroma is delicately spicy and yeasty; clove and vanilla, white pepper, nutmeg, and citrus rind. Soft flavors of banana muffins, carrot-cake spices, and bread. Not even as spicy as the nose would suggest. Medium-to-light, slightly oily mouthfeel. Lingering aftertaste of banana bread and a hint of phenols. Could stand to be more crisp and assertive.

sweet aroma, clear light yellow, sweet flavor, however, not a good sweet, not much in the hop department, not much overall

Bottled. Mine is quite light, the head dies instantly, and it's not really cloudy, much less opaque. Points off for that, even a slightly competent hefe should LOOK right. Malty-sweet banana nose, not really much to it; initial sweetness turns sour pretty quickly; no hops, no spice, little wheat, just some poor sour banana shake lying there dead. Though I initially suspected that this was the same thing as the Portsmouth Weizenheimer (same brewer), this one seems worse to me. Very thin, also. I'm outta here.

(Bottle) Pours a white, foamy head and a slightly clouded, yellow body. Tart nose with undertones of sour milk. Fizzy, citrus and near tasteless finish.

Bananna, lemon and slight clove in the nose with some unplacable sweetness. Very clear in the glass, no real head. Weak in flavor. Thin, boring palate.

Straw yellow, tiny bit of haze, very little head, large bubbles. Some wheat and citrus in the aroma. Wheat and lemon, touch of yeast in the flavor. Thin. Should probably be an American Wheat because this sure as hell doesn't resemble a German Hefe.

Not as cloudy as most hefes. A slight bitter/sour taste to this that toned down a bit as it warmed. An orange slice half way through helped a little also. I still wouldn't recommend it.
