| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 9, 20092007 bottle. Pours a red/orange with a small frothy ring of white head. Aroma of wheat, alcohol, dark fruit, raisin, and sugary sweetness. Flavor of sharp alcohol and sugar, sharp apple. Quite sweet, with a mild bitterness. Heavy and hard to drink. Although in general barleywines are good beers to age, I don’t think age improved this beer. Without fresh hops and the fresh wheat malt, this beer is just dominated by alcohol sweetness. I will try this again fresh to compare. 6/4/6/2/12 (3.0/5)
Update 4/9/09: Gravity keg at Blind Tiger. Pours a dirty brown with no head. Aroma of nice hop oils, lots of citrus hops. Very nice. Flavor of lots of citrus, tropical fruits, nice and hoppy. Also some apple skins and acetone as the beer warms. A little odd as it warms, but still MUCH better fresh.
