Commercial Description:
Another recently created American style, wheat wine, as its name implies, is a strong ale made with a substantial measure of malted wheat as well as barley. A close cousin to barleywines, wheat wines are typically strong, full bodied, deep gold to amber in color and feature a subtle soft tangy flavor derived from their wheat malt.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Nice deep amber brown color. Sweet caramel aroma along with booze & citrus hops. Flavor was caramel like sweet with that barleywine burn and some brown sugar. Overall pretty good. Prefered this to their barleywine

Bottle @ thewolf tasting.
[thank you Yngwie/Gunnfryd]
Pours a great clear amber with a creamy soft white head. Good lacing.Fine oily mouthfeel. Aroma is soft, hoppy (grapefruit) and light caramel. Soft flavour as well, lots and lots of alcohol. Not as much creaminess and fullness as expected - where is the wheat?

Apr. 2007 - Beer pours caramel brown, one finger head and good lacing. Aroma was citrus and caramel. Flavor was sweet caramel malts, wheat, a touch of citrus and a sour finish. I didn’t think I’d like this this much. Very good!

Clear at first until the sediment on the bottom was disturbed. Deep amber appearance with a small, off white head and virtually no lacing. Multiple layers of fruit, both soft and citrus, in the aroma, with some herbal hops trailing behind. Malted wheat taste, moderately sweet, fruity; just a bit of spicyness in the aftertaste. Full bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel. Long lingering finish with a noticable alc kick.

sampled at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event shared with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. this came from the RB table full of bottles. 2007 22oz bottle. sweat fruity aroma. flavor was tangy with lots of pinaple and citrus. the alcohol is mild but present. a nice brew.

This stuff has some oomph! Hops and alcohol power through the stewed fruits.

Awesome chewy mouthfeel, almost no tangy wheaty stuff. Draught at Circa 1/30/08. non-transparent light brown in color, huge head (duh, it’s a wheat wine), mouthfeel to the max. Love it.

Orange-amber in colour, average sized white coloured head, some visible carbonation, some lacing. The aroma is quite sweet, lots of toffee, noticable alcohol, some hops. The flavour is of lots of alcohol, toffee and caramel sweetness, some hops come through near the end. Hot mouthfeel, medium/large body, moderate carbonation. Finishes quite hot, lingering. Starts out fine but the alcohol takes over this beer very quickly.
