bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Sep 8, 2007 Pours a slightly reddish brown with a small head. Aroma is a pleasant blend of sweet and tart. Flavor is a combination of sweetness, an abundance of hop bitterness and lots of alcohol. Way overpowering. I couldn’t even finish my glass. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Sep 3, 2007 Big Beer series bottle which is "2007 Conditioned." Pours a hazy golden-copper that is fairly attractive. A good amount of carbonation that keeps bubbling upward for most of the session. Considerable light tan head. Strong scent of alcohol is present. Pouh! Tangy start and dry finish. The flavor lingers in my throat and I can’t shake the aftertaste and that is annoying. Potent stuff at 11% alcohol! Not really for a casual drinker and it’s too strong for my liking. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 12/10/2005

JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 25, 2007 2006 bomber. I actually appreciated this a bit more when it was fresh, as the crisp wheat flavors seem to have devolved a bit into more or less typical Barleywine heat and malt. It’s probably a good deal better than "typical" in all fairness, but my initial impressions were stronger. Still quite nice, but the piquant flavors I initially recall have subsided too much. I’ll drink it fresh next time I can get it. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Aug 6, 2007 Bottle. 2005. Amber colour with a little head. Nice aroma of burned caramel, hops, alcohol and sweetness. Smooth flavour of caramel, sweetness, dryness and somewhat wheat, very great endeed. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 3, 2007 This bottled brew from Squire at rating part on Dark Lord Day poured a head of foamy off-white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent light brown colored body. The mild aroma was malt hop. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and vinous. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 1, 2007 22 oz 2006 bottle from willblake. Pour is clear red-orange with only a small off white head. Aroma is dried fruit sweet malted barley and a bit of lively peppery hops. Taste is quite smooth, with the sweetness at the beginning, and nice mellow middle, and a strong bitter spiciness to the finish - then alcohol to the after taste. The wheat gives it a real nice, soft body. Quite a lot going on in this one, all nicely balanced and blended. A very interesting beer. Thanks Jon! This dark amber brew makes a fleeting off-white head.
Sweet and creamy texture that delivers a sweet malt profile. Spicy aroma that also reprises in the flavor and I too got the curry that has been noted by others at the tasting.
Interesting brew that hides it’s alcoholic level quite nicely.
