Commercial Description:
Another recently created American style, wheat wine, as its name implies, is a strong ale made with a substantial measure of malted wheat as well as barley. A close cousin to barleywines, wheat wines are typically strong, full bodied, deep gold to amber in color and feature a subtle soft tangy flavor derived from their wheat malt.

[297-20070503] 1pt6floz (c/o blankboy, w/ him, GregClow, jerc, mds). A bit of hoppy grass and light citrus aroma. Clear, orange red body with a quick little head. Very boozy, overly sweet. Medium-full body. Overpowering booze, ugh.

The wheat adds a nice light touch to the barley-wine style. A solid drink, if a little underwhelming. Carbonation is nice, but perhaps a little much.

Bu au Post-Mondial 07. Blonde dorée, mini collet. Arome d’houblon aux fruits et de blé doux. Goût d’houblon aux fruits crèmeux, un peu fleurie. Un drole de vin d’orge.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a small khaki head. The aroma was sweet, tangy and had an apple element. The flavor was sweet, tart, bitter and had elements of fruity hops, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel. The finish was spicy and fruity. The hops were somewhat subdued initially but increased dramatically and pleasantly as it warmed. Very nice.

Bottle. Cloudy orange with a bubbly ring of head. Orangey hop aroma, some soap, resin, and underlying bread. Sharp flavour with lots of lingering grapefruit and pine notes. Bread and wheat backbone provide solid balance. Sparkling carbonation.

Had this a couple times and the latest version had the alcohol better hidden, but still some fusels throughout. Good use of the wheat in this one and a touch of nuttiness present. Slight hint of cloves and allspice on the aroma. Some caramel and toffee notes in the finish.
