jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Cloudy light amber pour with a small sandy head. Smells of sweet fruitiness, caramel, and faded hops. Tastes of sweet, malty, caramel, and graham crackers. Faded citrus hops and light florals. Smooth as all get out! Very nice indeed. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle: Clear amber pour...no head. Caramel malts, light wheat malt, floral hops and some spiced accents all present in the nose. Very nice mouth feel, both silky and carbonated perfectly. Sweet caramel, light floral hops and some rock candy qualities noted in the taste. Very clean tasting and ends with a pleasant back end of wheat malt. Nice brew. gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Nov 2, 2008 Pours a hazy copper. Sweet malty aroma mixes with additional notes of wheat, caramel and hops. The mouthfeel was nice and thick and it paired nicely with the flavor. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 Pours a hazy copper-amber color under a thick bone white head which fades quickly to a thin film. No lacing noted. Immediate sweet aromas of buckwheat honey, dark brown sugar, green apples, fresh wheat bread, spices and ethanol greet the nostrils. Pleasant subdued carbonation resulted in a smooth, full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Flavors were sweet and almost a tad cloying but the big alcohol content cuts it down nicely. Notes of caramel apples, almonds, brown sugar, butterscotch, and fresh baked wheat rolls coat the palate. As sweet as this brew is it serves up a big kick with a warming finish. Definitely a sipper. dunkpigen (328), Kolding, Denmark Oct 12, 2008 Pours hazy orange with a small film. Aroma of sweet althea drops. Flavour is very sweet, some hops - and it is quite sticky. SilkTork (4156), Rochester, Kent, England Oct 10, 2008 GBBF, Trade Day, 2008 Gravity cask. Cloudy orange amber. Some dog poo in the aroma - the dried white sort. Vague mouthfeel finishes in a yeasty bitterness. Not impressed. Wheat is not a good cereal for beer - though it can add a level of interest if used well. This use lacks understanding, and is a bit crude. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Oct 9, 2008 Cask (gravity) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5. Unclear medium amber orange (copper) color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, toffee, wheat, grapefruit, moderate yeasty, cheese. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (050808) ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Sep 8, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, deep, yet bright amber body with a thin ring of white bubbles.
Smell: Wonderfully aromatic nose smelling deeply of toasted caramel with a distant tangy note of wheat. Some peaches and pears, as well as some citrus.
Taste: Malty caramel, lightly toasty, and with a full, though not unrestrained sweetness. Definitely a nice wheat component present. Chewy fruitiness. Spicy, lightly citrusy hops with a medium-high bitterness, but it blends very well to counter and balance all of the sweetness. Hint of pepper. Finishes bittersweet with a lingering taste of creme caramel. Upon warming, a taste of Grand Marnier begins to emerge.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-low carbonation. Suspiciously creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Very good, very nice, and I wish I had some extra bottles of it on-hand. Heavenly and delectable! I certainly recommend it.
