Cask, GBBF 08. Dark copper with a small head. Aromas are toffee malts with peppery pine hops, pear and grapefruit. Evident alcohol. Flavours are syrupy sweet toffee malts with autumn fruit. Hoppy with lots of spices. Peppery pine on the finish. Good stuff.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 5 Aug 2008) Dark reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit and hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, hops, yeast and alcohol. Very vinous, warming and powerful, but strangely enough with a nice balance. Very nice beer. Rerate: (draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 23 Feb 2009) Deep ruby colur with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of caramel and wild berries. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, caramel, wild berries, rubber and generous doses of citrussy hops in the finish. Full bodied, fairly sweet. Powerful and warming. An excellent example of a fairly odd beer style.

Cask, GBBF 08. Bronze, thin but lasting off white head and gentle condition. Good balance of hop resin and caramel sweetness in the aroma, sweet and sticky maltiness in the mouth with a touch of spiciness and solid hop resin notes, lingering bittersweet alcoholic finish with some biscuit.

Cask at GBBF 2008 ... Copper brown ... sweet vanilla nose ... mellow roast .. some spirit ... loads fo toffe and vanilla . yummm

Cask at GBBF 2008 Pours murky brown, this is a real bolshie, full bodied, heavy hitting beer totally in yer’ face. Quite thick and fullsome in the mouth, lacking in subtlety but not without its plus points. Bit too sweet for me, but there are some nice malty and wheaty touches.

Cask@GBBF 2008. Brownish beer with a malty aroma and a rich and malty flavour. Overall a smooth malty and rich beer.

Cask at GBBF ’08. Dark copper: a good looking beer. Tasted good too, in fact it was the Beer of the Festival as far as I was concerned. Glorious sweet malty alcoholic aroma. Sweet oily taste, full of forbidden pleasures. Some bitterness and an earthy, lingering vegetal aftertaste. Loved it.

Cask@GBBF2008. Hazy orange colour, small beige bubbly head. Aroma is alcohol and wheat with some minor spicy notes. Flavour is fruits, wheat, alcohol and some mild spices. Gets quite bitter in the finish.
