Commercial Description:
Another recently created American style, wheat wine, as its name implies, is a strong ale made with a substantial measure of malted wheat as well as barley. A close cousin to barleywines, wheat wines are typically strong, full bodied, deep gold to amber in color and feature a subtle soft tangy flavor derived from their wheat malt.

Wow. This was a potent wheat bomb of flavor with tons of yeasty character. The 10% ABV was adequately well hidden. The beer reminded me of the wonderful Two Brothers Bare Tree Weiss Wine.

(Rating #1122)

Medium amber-orange. Fruity-hoppy nose. Very smooth and weighty texture with a creamy carbonation; kind of chewy. Wholesome malts had an organic quality; wheat germ and crackers. Noticeable alcohol -- fruity and vodka-like; warming. Healthy bitterness; sharp, grassy hops. Overall, decent flavors; aromas seemed a bit restrained. Sweetness was mild, but the beer seemed to be balanced.

brown in color, no head at all. has a light hoppy aroma. Starts off decent, but over time the taste will start wearing on you.

22oz. Bottle: Very sweet aroma. Smells of caramel malts, resin, citrus hops, and a hint of vanilla. Poured amber in color with a tiny off-white head that diminished instantly. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of caramel malts, and bitter hops. Medium body. Thin, lightly dry texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter, hoppy finish.

Bottle, thank you Daknole. Dark amber color with small hazy head. Chewy aroma makes me roll my eyes...but actually it’s not as sticky or chewy as it lets on. The flavors are much nicer than the aromas. Flavors are big in malt and hop categories with not much wheat character but has a nice big hoppy kick.

At this point, I pretty much have to trust my notes. They say coppery orange, which seems reasonable. The aroma is described as "nunpowder", which I assume I meant to say "gunpowder", which doen’t make much sense, either. At any rate, some nutty flavors, and touches of banana and clove, and uh, curry? That’s what it says in my notes, so I’m gonna take my word for ti.

Demure beauty on the label. Amber color. Light in aroma, a bit of vanilla. Bourbon flavor, caramel, subdued alcohol. A little thin for a barleywine. Drinkable but not my favorite barleywine.
