Commercial Description:
Another recently created American style, wheat wine, as its name implies, is a strong ale made with a substantial measure of malted wheat as well as barley. A close cousin to barleywines, wheat wines are typically strong, full bodied, deep gold to amber in color and feature a subtle soft tangy flavor derived from their wheat malt.

This is a truly fine diversion until Bigfoot is once again available. Sweet crystalized fruit malt flavor that manages to come off lightly with a wheat bite. The alcohol is somewhat more noticable than some of the richer and deeper barleywines but you will plow through this offering like it was a pilsner. At $3.49 a 22oz bottle, I’ll likely be cleaning out my local beverage supplier and suggest you do the same!

Powerful stuff with smell of alcohol and malts. Bittersweet taste with spicy wheat, vanilla and hints of hop resin. Alcoholic notes all the way. Thin, off-white head over a copper coloured body. Full bodied. Well worth drinking in a small glass (third pint at GBBF, 06.08.2008).

Bottle. Poured a nice cloudy brown amber body with thin head. Aroma is caramel, fruit, sweet malt. Flavor is heavy caramel, malt and a light tropical fruit taste. Smooth for the abv and a very nice taste on the palate.

Bottle. Pours nice reddish color with nice white 1 finger head that left decent lacing as I drank it. Smell is fruit, raspberry, caramel and light wheat. Light citrus taste and decent malt with a light tangy after taste. Little bit of a earthy spice in there also. Did not detect the hops anywhere or the alcohol. Very well hidden on this one. Light carbonation and dry finish. Liked this one a lot and glad to have one to sit on. For being 11% this one is easy to drink.

Bottle. Pours hazy ruby red-brown, with barely any head - beautiful beer. Nose is caramel and toffee, with some soft cherry mixed in with the nose, and bit of alcohol. Taste is rich with a toffee and caramel sweetness, with a bit of a wheat tang in there, but balanced by an understated but persistent floral hop note, and an alcohol presence thats spicy some times and a bit boozy at others. Mouthfeel is perfect - a soft but slightly crisp carbonation that is understated and allows the flavors to shine. Terrific sipper.
