BrianK (67), New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2007 It was good for it’s price. Nice color, descent taste, and nice aroma. Nothing over the top, just a descent beer to enjoy on a regular basis.
Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 24, 2008 A Mes rate: gravicask at GBBF. A superb rich amber colour. Stunning wheat and barley sugar. Thick, luscious, chewy, slight cheese, loads of wheat and a lovely boozy hit. Full bodied malt base holds it all up really well. A huge warm blanket of a beer and I really liked it. maeib (3949), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Aug 20, 2008 Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2008. An amber coloured beer which is full bodied both in the nose and the mouh. Great alcohol notes and a full malty taste. No obvious wheat notes. leaparsons (3899), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 17, 2008 Cask, GBBF 08. Dark copper with a small head. Aromas are toffee malts with peppery pine hops, pear and grapefruit. Evident alcohol. Flavours are syrupy sweet toffee malts with autumn fruit. Hoppy with lots of spices. Peppery pine on the finish. Good stuff. Svesse (1687), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 16, 2008 (Cask at GBBF, London, 5 Aug 2008) Dark reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit and hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, hops, yeast and alcohol. Very vinous, warming and powerful, but strangely enough with a nice balance. Very nice beer. rauchbier (2873), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Aug 14, 2008 Cask, GBBF 08. Bronze, thin but lasting off white head and gentle condition. Good balance of hop resin and caramel sweetness in the aroma, sweet and sticky maltiness in the mouth with a touch of spiciness and solid hop resin notes, lingering bittersweet alcoholic finish with some biscuit.
