3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured into english pint, cola brown with light short lasting head that only stuck to glass edge. Aroma is malt. Mouth feel is watery. Roasted malt taste, it does have a bit of a a by ale tint. Slight warming on finish. Nutty also on the end of finish, not bad.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap. Pours a deep red/brownish color. Not much head and didn’t last long. Aroma is light and malty. Flavor is light and malty as well; there’s a little fruitiness and toastiness to it and I can detect the belgian yeasts. This one was a little hot on the alcohol for some reason which is strange for a 5-6% beer. My biggest gripe though is it’s extremely light bodied to the point where it feels a bit watered down. I wasn’t diggin that at all. Overall not bad but not great.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours brown with a tan head. Taste bitter, belgian yeast, Carmel. I thought this was not very good. I would not drink this again.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma: Moderately sweet and yeasty; toffee, candy sugar with some apple and maybe a bit of red grape. Appearance: Deep reddish brown with a frothy tan head that settles into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Not as promising as the nose suggests; still mostly sweet, but fruity esters really take a backseat. The flavor profile is light overall. Palate: Light body, thin texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. Overall: An average/below average Dubbel.

Bottle at home. Pours brown with tawny highlights and a large, creamy off-white head, medium retention, dissipating to the edge, and light lacing. Aroma is moderate nutty and toast malt, light caramel and cookie notes, dates and figs, and light earthy hops. Flavor is moderate toast and nutty malt with light cookie notes, light dark fruits, light hops and bitterness with balance all to the malt, clean fermentation, and a dry finish. Medium to full body moderate carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a soda brown with an amber hue. Small light tan head that fades quickly but leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of sweet tart candy, plum, grapefruit, licorice, tart cherries, clove, bready malts. Taste is a nice mix of candi syrup, plums, licorice, clove, dates, with hints of cinnamon. Not nearly as strong or complex as a Belgian Abby Dubbel, but still pretty big for an American winter ale. Long but somewhat subdued bitter finish of dark fruits and tart cherries with toasted malts. Medium bodied, slick texture, lively carbonation. Interesting beer. Definitely different for a winter ale.
