3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Market Square. Black pour with a finger or so tan head and good retention. Aroma is molasses, chocolate, dark fruit, belgian spices. Tastes are malty, lots of wood, little bourbon, raisins, chocolate, yeasty, charred. Spicy finish. Nice sharp thin to medium texture. Interesting sipper.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
The aroma is chocolate, fruity, molasses, licorice. the appearance is deep black, tan head. The flavor is chocolate, sweet fruit, molasses. The finish is sweet, boozy, pine needles. Medium/thick in body. Nicely done. Hard to pick up any belgian yeast though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle, from my local Kroger. Bottled in 2012. Dark clear brown color. Little brown head. Little lace. Bigger body, dry texture. Soft carbonation. Roasty spicy chocolatey flavor. Sweet taste. Some bitter, mostly just spicy. Not a huge fan of belgian-style stouts, but this one is alright. Hard for me to see why it’s necessary to spice up a stout, though. Initially it’s tasty, but quickly loses it’s luster, spice takes a toll. Good one to have shared 3 ways

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: Bottle I brought to Paul’s Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13
Aroma: Nose of chocolate malts, vanilla, and roast, with hints of Belgian yeast and bourbon
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a small tan head
Flavor: It has lots of chocolate/malts, with the yeasty and bourbon flavors noticeable, but subtle
Palate: The body was a little lighter then I expected, it feels creamy and smooth
Randomly, this was the first thing I drank blind out of all the beers there. Anyway, I was plenty happy to start with this one, as I thought it was quite good. A nice job by Smutty.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma has some dark fruit and licorice...a bit of a Sharpie note. Flavor follows suit and adds a touch of smoke and booze. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is fruity with a smokey/Sharpie note,

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99- thanks again, Tom! 2012 vintage. Also notches for 2013 and 2014, so I guess this won’t be the last time we see it. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. The aroma has a lot of Belgian yeast character, with notes of dark fruits (a lot of grapes), chocolate, oak, currants, and vanilla. Flavor of oak, peanuts, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, and fig. Medium-full bodied, with a rich, boozy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Would be interested to try this same vintage again in 6 months or so.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber to taster. Looks good; cola with thin lacing. Smells of malt, oak, and Belgian yeast. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid, but not spectacular.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Oddly effervescent on the pour. Dark hue in the glass; nearly black. Big bubbles pop like on a soda. Aromas tell a fruity, jammy, nutty, toffee kind of story. Candy sugar on the first taste, settling into a brown sugar sweetness, too much vanilla/bourbon, and not enough of the rich chocolate, caramel and toffee notes that would have rounded this beer out.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Pours black with a creamy tan cap.
Aroma: Chocolate covered banana, vanilla, cereal.
Taste: Roasted malt, bourbon, wood, banana esters. Finishes roasty and woody.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Aversge carbonation.
Overall: A very flavorful, balanced Stout. Keeping this under 9% probably played a role in this beers wonderful complexity. Not a booze/bourbon bomb, yet not one of those bourbon barrel beers where you barely get any spirit/barrel character.
