COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of the doggy denizens of Brussels, this hybrid beer is a mix of what we love best in a big, roasty stout, but fermented with a Belgian yeast, which brings out a beautiful fruity nose. We set aside a portion of the batch to age in bourbon barrels to allow the stouts chocolate and caramel flavors to marry with the woods natural vanilla and toastiness. The final blend pairs well with both savory dishes and your favorite desserts.

Dark brown color with creamy head that stood up, with good laceing. Flavor of fruit and caramel. A clean after taste though slightly sour. A good brew but not quite to my taste.

22 oz. Pours dark brown, almost black, with some reddish highlights and a 1 finger creamy mocha head. Head recedes to a ring leaving random sticky lace. Nice funky aroma with wood, some sour notes, dark fruits and candy. Flavor has a funky sourness as well as lots of roastiness. Some candied sugar sweetness, tempered by the Belgian yeast. Full palate with an odd tartness. There’s a lot going on here and it works very well.

Hugely enjoyable ’stout.’ Aging gives it character and a long taste. Alcohol muted. Vanilla is present. Smuttynose does a beer well.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep brown with a tan head. Big bourbon/chocolate/vanilla nose. Perfect christmas eve beer! Taste is creamy, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon sweetness, but a bit unbalanced. Definitely one of the better Smuttynose big beers.
