Named in honor of the doggy denizens of Brussels, this hybrid beer is a mix of what we love best in a big, roasty stout, but fermented with a Belgian yeast, which brings out a beautiful, fruity nose.
This relatively new sub-style combines Belgian, American and English influences to create a beer whose total is more than equal to the sum of its parts. Here’s how Zinneke breaks down and adds back up. Start with a strong stout. This is the Big Beer Series after all… then “Belgianize” it by altering the grain bill and fermenting the wort with a Trappist yeast strain. We backed off the heavy caramel and roasted malts to create a more complimentary flavor profile for the yeast, which contributes fruity esters and a light body. These parts combine to create a beer with dark color and light body with prevalent flavors of dark fruits, vanilla and toffee, while subtle chocolate flavors appear in the finish.

Pretty oxidized, flat, but that might be my fault, good roast malts which is a good sign

From 22oz bottle. Nice mild aroma with definite hints of bourbon. Dark brown with tan head. Fresh taste with plenty of pop - more highly carbonated than most stouts. Cocoa flavors come out as beer warms up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not the biggest stout fan. But this was incredible! Very nice scent, Carmel, chocolate, vanilla, with the barrel. Flavor has all of the scents above but finishes with a very distinctive coffee taste. De freaking lish!

Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a large creamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of big cocoa notes, moderately strong bourbon and mild roast. The taste is nutty, cocoa, bourbon, banana, dark fruits. Medium bodied, quite delicious.

Bottle. Black with a tan head. Nose is chocolate and roasted malt. Taste opens with strong bourbon notes, supplemented by chocolate and roasted malt. Prominent yeast profile. Mouthfeel is medium with a little carb. Solid if unspectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour minimal head. Aroma of whiskey, black licorice. Doesnt really taste or feel like a stout, a little thin, and probably too light on the dark malts. This is at the low end for a bourbon stout, but still worth trying if you are in the mood for a bba stout and cant find one of the better ones.

Bomber. Pours out a black color with a tan head on it. Smell is roasted malts, chocolates, coffee, some hops... Taste is lively with CO2, somewhat bitter, pretty much too much carbonation for my likes. It is not a terrible beer, but I have only bought one of these.
