Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 4, 2009 Feels more like a Dubble than Imperial Stout in texture. Has a yeasty, brown sugary , raisin bready Belgian’esq vibez. There’s some roast malt , but it has a French accent (Belgians sound French to me)Sugary and cloying. Not complex or a legit take on the style but its flavasome beer. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 9, 2009 Bottle. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are smoky and herbal with lactose and molasses. Dark chocolate with light berries. Flavours are sweet molasses with liquorice and dark chocolate. Quite herbal with roast bitterness on the finish. Good. RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Jul 17, 2009 Bottle. Almost black beer with a strong head. The aroma is gently spiced, and the flavour is nicely spiced and lightly bitter. Overall an average version of an imperial stout. pivnizub (4951), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Jul 4, 2009 Bottle: Deep ruby amber coloured, big - slowly collapsing - beige head; moderate caramelly-sourish nose with traces of alcohol, roasted malt and mollasses; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, accompanied by a light acidity; robust sweet-bitter-fruity finish with some traces of bitter chocolate in the aftertaste. Not bad, but a bit weak in comparison to the "classical" samples of the style................. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 20, 2009 Bottle at T’ Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 07-06-09 Pours a very dark brown with a light beige head. The aroma is light cocoa and a little coffee. There is a touch of dark fruits and some hoppiness showing. Soft in the mouth, alcohol is actually very well hidden and only briefly shows to warm the tongue, tasty beer. Taste Flavour sweet, roasted malts, a hint of chocolate. austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Apr 7, 2009 33cl bottle, from CK. Dark reddish brown, fluffy beige head leaving some lovely creamy lacing. Aroma has licorice root, earth, raw coffee beans, little sourness and even faint BBQ-sauce. A bit hollow flavor for an Impy, dark coffee, herbs, little earth and herbal alcohol, moderate toffee sweetness. Acidic coffeeish finish with old-school herbal liquorice. Medium to full bodied, slightly sticky and strongly carbonated palate. Nice coffeeish stout, thou pretty low on roast. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 7, 2009 Bottle in a hotel room in Bruxelles.
