3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark brown with fine tan head. First whiff of the aroma was red wine, but it quickly almost disappears and the aroma becomes malty sweet, chocolate. Taste is sweet, soft, caramel, butter, a little liquorice. Nice brew, but a little to sweet for my liking. Would categorize it as an imperial stout.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Dark brown, hazy, small to average and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, light roasted malt and faint coffee. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, light caramel and roasted malt, light coffee and licorice. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, light caramel, light roasted malt – faint burnt malt, light coffee and faint salty licorice with light hoppyness, light alcohol. Sweetish IS with roastiness - could use more bitterness. OK but really nothing special.

Thick and sweet with a nicely bitter end. Dark soul with black chocolate and some alcohol in the background. A bit grainy with some coffee. Quality stuff for sure.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Douberd - many thanks! The beer pours out in a deep dark black colour with creamy low head and medium body. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Taste of mild malt, dark grains, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, nuts and earth. Very intense finish of bittersweet, dark chocolate - amazing. Enjoyed it a lot. It was highly quaffable, easy to drink and just a beer to feel good with.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle, Mitra Nijmegen. Appealingly labeled from this small brewery that offered us a convincing Proefbrouwerij Pale Ale the night before. Pours a convincing maroni deep red with nice creme head. Aroma is blander, with only a faint whiff of coffee and roast, mirrored in a mild taste of coffee, older bitter chocolate, nice friendly green hop profile coming in from the side, and some cardboard. Turbo finish and gone. Enjoyable entry level ImpStout that needs some more oomph.

In fles 33 cl.bmooie donkere kleur. Luchtige schuimkop. Eerste smaak impressie : koffieachtig met een lekkere sparkel. Biertje ruikt een beetje naar een oude dweil.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Stubby bottle, 330 ml, poured into a snifter. ABV 8.5%
Pours a very dark brown beer, almost black, with deep ruby shades when light hits it. One finger of light beuge head, with average retention and medium lacing on the glass, along with big bubble islands on the surface.
Aroma of dark, roasted malts, a touch of vanilla, chocolate. Very good.
Taste has lots of roasted malts, less chocolate now and less vanilla too but they return on the finish after the beer has warmed up a bit.
Medium thick body, average carbonation.
Overall quite good, and with this price for an IRS like that too.
