33 cL bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours dark brown with a huge light brown/orange head. Lovely yeasty and slight spiced aroma. Flavour is slight chocolate flavoured, malty and with more of that creamy yeast flavour. Medium sweet. Lingers nicely into the finish with the Belgian yeast flavours. Lovely.

[In my version brewed by "De Proefbrouwerij" in Lochristi, Belgium at 9.3% ABV] A red-brown beer with an OK brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of caramel, but also some herbs. The flavor is sweet with notes of herbs, caramel, and wood.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) In my version brewed by "De Proefbrouwerij" in Lochristi, Belgium at 9.3% ABV. Beautiful, dark mahogany with a warm, reddish glow and a creamy, beige head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and dried fruits. Good, full body with plenty of roasted malt, caramel and overripe fruit. Lightly burned notes. Lovely. 030106

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2007 Bottled, thanks Papsoe! Hazy mahogany colour, small beige head. Aroma of plums and cocoa powder. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel and surprisingly slim body. Fairly soft moutfheel, alcohol is evident. Fruity, yeasty and choclatey, tastes top fermented. Light salty finish.

Cloudy chocolate brown beer. Semi dry palate. Rich malt with a good dash of chocolate and a little aniseed alcohol and brandy. Not nad but was hoping for a lot more from this big Dutch Eisbock!

Very dark chestnut color, almost black; big head. Nice aroma of malt and caramel, also some chocolate and maybe liquorice and spices. Medium bodied, less thick and sweet than other examples; mostly chocolate flavor. In the end the alcohol is warming. Because of the chocolate, it reminds me more a Strong Belgian than an Eisbock.

Bottle at the Croydonia Tasting - East Croydon. Thanks to Jack for this not-too-common style - and a great pick for 30C weather! Pours deep amber with a creamy beige head. Sugary, semi-dark malts in the aroma, dark bread, dark fruits. Medium to big sweet flavor with expected dark malts, ripened dark fruits, bread, plums, etc. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Toasted dark bread to finish, light bittern toast, earth, light cocoa, more ripe fruits. Good. Decent balance for the ABV.
