UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 (Bottled, 9.8% ABV) Deep, dark ruby red with a thick, lacy and partly lasting head. A very delicious, strongly hoppy and liquourish, strawberry-sweetish aroma. Aromatic-hoppy, malty and lightly grainy flavor with dried fruit and well-hidden, yet warming alcohol. Medium to full-bodied, low-carbonated, slicky-rough palate. A very enjoyable and balanced, deliciously hoppy barley wine. I wish all Dutch beers were like this (well, it was Belgian, after all :P)!

Draught.Big brother of the Pale Ale. Barley wine/triple combination according to there own website. But it’s more of a strong pale ale in my opinion. Very nice beer to clear the mouth. Dry hopps everywhere.

Bottle at d’Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Full malty taste with a grapefruity hoppy aroma. Cloudy brown with a fine head.

Hazy reddish orange coloured beer with a nice offwhite head. Nose is hoppy and fruity (oranges, some berries, like in candy). Nice round fruity taste with oranges and berries, ending in a very intense hopbitterness. Thick mouthfeel, full palate. Very intense and good beer.

A hazy orange beer with a nice orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with fruity notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet hoppy with a good warming fealing from the alcohol, and then a dry hoppy end. Almost American in the interpretation - nice.

Bottled. Cloudy orange coloured with an off white head. Spicy aroma with notes of alcohol and medicine. Sweet flavour of fruits, spices and yeast. Hoppy finish.

Bottle. Hazy red brown colour with a small off-white head. Sweet fruity hopy aroma and taste. Medium to full body and a sweet dry light alcoholic finish.

Very cloudy brown coloured, thin lacing. Malty aroma, some vanilla perhaps, quite good. Complex flavour, malts, hops, fruits, caramel. However, for a barley wine this one finishes just way too bitter for me (i like em sweet). Wouldn’t drink this one again i think.

Cloudy amber color. Good, malty barleywine, less interesting in the aroma; strong bitterness, light fruitness, caramel, light liquorice, sweet body. Very good, strong. Thanks Jacob (Lövenlund) for this fine beer.
