UPDATED: DEC 1, 2011 (Bottled) seductive fumes rise from the tulip glass....slugishly relaxed vibes of booze covered over caramel. woody hops wave hello as a buttery maltiness shines over apple and orange citrus complexity...
nice glowing deep apperance ..beige head ,customary and glowing
in the mouth i cant find a complexity to reach the nose.. rich and fruity every sip and goes in a circle..a plesant one though ,the booze is pleasantly intoxicating me .

33cL stubby bottle purchased at Bierkoning on my Amsterdam trip. BB 8/12/11, consumed in October 2011, so not fresh but should be fine enough for a barleywine. Consumed in my hotel room at room temperature. Poured into a De Molen tuliped copita glass. Pours with a very small head. Color is a dark orange glowing copper. Too dark to see through the beer. The pour looks a bit slick. I see this beer is a wannabe of Bigfoot. In this case the beer is a little old or just bad. Either way it should be better. The beer has muddled hops with sweet barleywine hops behind it. Its just not good, the base barleywine is too fusel and sweet. This was a big let down. I wish I could have gotten the cool label we have on the site but even the label was a letdown.

Dark copper body light tan head. Aroma is malty with raisin, candy, pear, some white chocolate and ginger. Nice and full. Tasty as well, starting little sweetness and slowly getting towards the fine dry finish. Light alcohol in the back gives it an uplifting kick. Lively enough to keep me interested. Well brewed, although I expected the body a bit fuller especially in the beginning. Overall a very pleasant sipper. (33cl bottle, 2,50 EUR)

Bottle from Van Pernis, Arnhem. I always enjoy a good Barley Wine and this one was not disappointing. Dark amber pour. Very nice aroma with hops, dark fruits, sweet notes and syrup. In the taste all sort of flavours pass. Smooth taste with dark fruits, syrup, honey and other pleasant sweet notes. Bitter dry finish. A very nice brew!
