In short: A nice straightforward fruity pale ale.
How: Tap at ‘t Arendsnest, Amsterdam
The look: Partly cloudy orange body topped by a small off white head
In long: Nose is citrusy. Taste has light soft caramel, citrus fruits, yeast, some oranges, some floral notes. Body is a bit fluffy. Medium bitterness. Nothing original here, this is an all around well balanced and highly sessionnable pale ale. On a side note SNAB is a organization dedicated to promoting good craftbeer in the Netherlands. Not an easy mission in Amsterdam. Their slogan “Almost as fun as pot”.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 piscator34 (1582) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 13, 2010
Draft sample from t’ Arendsnest. Orange in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of candied orange, caramel malts, and a faint sourness. More sweet orange and sweet malts in the mouth, along with an odd ball-point pen twang on the finish. Medium bodied. Not nearly bitter enough to balance all the sweetness. Tasted a bit like a homebrewed APA that used stale liquid malt extract. Disappointing.
