Bottle at Chriso’s 2012 Pre-GBBF Shindig, London. Pours foggy brown with a dense, tan foam head. Lovely smoked malt nose with subtle ham notes. Great flavor, medium sweet, with smokey malts, some bitter earth, faint tang, charcoal. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry smoke to finish with faint notes of dry caramel. Pretty dry overall, in fact. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 heavy (1956) - Split, CROATIA - AUG 16, 2012
21/07 RBESG Grand Tasting, 0.375 l bottle. It poured hazy brown body with medium sized ivory head. Nice, slightly sour peat aroma, a bit of ham and caramel. Flavor was a bit sweet, caramel, raising and chocolate with smoked notes like burning log made of some dry wood. That added to some acidity. Medium in body with shorter, but nice caramel and milder smoked finish. Not what I used to in smoked beers, but I liked it.

After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a clear black and a sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is hoppy bitter with a light roasted malty touch . This beer smells fruity.

RBESG 2012 GT. Black. Sweet malty nose, smokey? The taste is... hmmm... glue, nice smokey meaty notes, sweetish and generally lovely. I love my eloquence when it’s this late in the tasting.
