Bottle, 750 ml at home, vintage 2012. Poured into a snifter. ABV 8% Pours a beer murky red brown in colour, with an off white and pale head, one finger in size, thick, with average retention. A big foam island left on the center of the beer’s surface after the head collapsed, along with light lacing around he walls. Aroma is fruity, with some sour notes of white grapes. Taste of cinammon and a bit of clove, indeed like a liquid speculaas. Really great if you like this treat. Some dark fruits as well on the finish. Light alcohol notes on the flavour, more notable as a warmth on the body. Mostly sweet taste but well balanced with the spices. Medium body, low carbonation. Overall very good, different from other barley wines as it’s focused on spices, works really great as a winnter warmer and a holidays’ beer.

Poured slightly hazy medium amber with a huge off white head. Aroma of heavy spice and meat. Medium body, flavour is sweet and vinous, dark fruit. Not very well balanced.

Bottle at home (shared). Pours a hazy reddish amber. Foamy, results in small off white head. Aroma of mostly malts and some spices. Not much "speculaas", not even after warming up. Taste is slightly sour and malty. Bit of a disappointment.
