Bottle, 2010 vintage, bottle #53, thanks to JohnGalt1. A couple years ago BuckeyeBoy tried to get me to the release party; I was bummed to miss out on road trip due to work. Later on down the road Toby sends a bottle I thought I’d never see... many thanks. Nose is fruity and acidic, lightly woody, but mainly tart. Amber with an auburn hue, yields little head on the initial pour. Nose deep in my goblet the aroma is rich and potent. The taste is mellower than the aroma would suggest, but overall a nice blend of fruit, acidity, and wood. Lightly tart, the sour cherry really comes through well and balances with the wood. I like the way the flavors mesh, it suits the style and is not over the top crazy.

Bottle… Tower of Power Sour Hour 2011This beer rocks!… Pours a clear burnt orange with a small, white head. The aroma is fruity, tart and funky with sour cherries and purple grapes really standing out. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with soft carbonation. The flavor is sour and fruity with a nice caramel backbone. Puckering finish with a mild, lingering, yeasty bitterness. Big-time thanks to the ever-generous Dstructo for popping the top on this one!

Pours cloudy caramel. Nose is full of sour cherry, as is the palate. Very, very sour cherry. Not quite great, a little too simple.

Bottle provided by destructo at his TOSPH. Clear light brown pour. Cherry and oak aromas. An outstanding example of a Flanders’ Red with sour cherry notes. Awesome, thanks Ryan.....

Bottle shared at Tower of Sour Power, provided by Dstructo. I can’t remember if this was the cerise or not, we had two bottles that night. This was on 09’ I believe. Well regardless of what it was I found it quite delicious. Nice sour fruit funk aroma and a tarty flavor to boot. Very solid.

Bottle 71, 2009 vintage. Pours a clear copper red color with a slight white collared head. Fruity, sour aroma with a raspberry note. Acid. Light, medium mouthfeel. Sharp acid bite up front with a fruit malt backbone. Oaky. Mild bitterness in the end. The nose is a little better than the taste. Grapey. The bitterness in the is a little offputting.

Bottle thanks to forgetfu on BA. Pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Pretty nice nostril-stinging aroma, a bit acetic with dark fruit notes and hints of sweet caramel. There’s a bit of funky goat blanket in the aroma with caramel malt notes, vinegar, oak, plum, and cherry. I see why they made a cherry version of this beer, but actually like the non-cherry version a bit better. Medium-bodied with good acidity and some tingling from the acetic notes, with fairly lively carbonation. A solid tick, and a rare one at that.

A: The beer pours a hazy amber color with a finger of just off-white head. S: Rather fruity, much more so than most Oud Bruins I’ve had. Lots of peach, cherry, apricot, and plum notes. A heavy lactobacillus note along with some definite acetic character. Very mild malt sweetness. T: Intensely fruity on the palate, too. More of the same peach, apricot, and cherry flavors with a moderate funkiness. Some hints of sweet toffee malt with a light grass note. Decently acetic with a touch of vanilla. M: Medium bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. O: A nicely done sour. I’ve wanted to try this and the cherry version, and was pleased that they were as good as I had hoped.
