Poured from can into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a deep amber color with a huge billowy head of just off white foam. The head holds on with quite some persistence, slowly fading to leave a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of strong of a citrus grapefruit smell along with it having a little bit of an orange and tangerine smell as well. These aromas are by far the most potent, but are joined by some lighter smells of a floral and grassy nature as well. Taste – The taste begins with a drier citrus and lightly bready flavor mixed with a little bit of a fruit taste of tangerine, orange, and pineapple. As the taste advances, the sweetness fades a bit, all while the bitterness gets even greater with more grapefruit and some floral and light earthy flavors coming to the tongue. Right at the end, a little bit of a grassy flavor comes to the tongue as well, leaving a rather bitter, but still smooth flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the style the mouthfeel is very nice, as it balances well the fruit and bitter hop flavors. Overall – A rather tasty and crisper IPA with a good level of fruity citrus hop flavor as well as just enough other bitter hops to keep a big IPA flavor all throughout the taste.

12 oz can. From snakeriverbrewing.com.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Fruity and piney hops, fresh hop cones, mild bitterness, some sweetness and mild maltiness in the aroma. Wow! Very nice aroma. The flavour is piney and citrusy hops, mild bitterness, sweetness and some maltiness. Extremely drinkable.

Aroma: fresh floral hops, good dose of pine/resin, some light malts and faint sweet notes, pleasant grapefruit/citrus. Appearance: light golden color, good clarity, average white head that fades to a lasting ring, leaves some spotty lacing. Taste: refreshing burst of hops - lots of resin with some citrus, then a nice light malty follow up. Malt generally stays out of the way of the hops - just enough to balance, nice light cracker character with a bit of sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden, medium bitterness that is nice and clean with no lingering bitterness/astringency after the taste. Palate: medium body and carbonation, semi-dry finish. Overall: really nice IPA - great hop punch with subdued malt character, right up my alley.

Tap @ Sanford’s. So I’m having a bit of a reminiscence drinking this bet. The very first time I went white water rafting was in the Snake River. Not too bad.

Somewhat opaque golden yellow, white lacing lasting foam. Quite bitter aroma, some grass/hay notes. Likewise strong bitter taste and aftertaste, little room for anything else. (Velp 201409)

Best by 09 18 11, from the new cans which just arrived in town. A medium golden colour, lots of foam, ditto for the lacing. Citrus and pine dominate the smell...suggesting some pretty strong bitter notes when it comes to the taste. Yeah, it does lean towards the bitter side. Grapefruit with some notes of pine bring plenty of the bitter, the malt, from what I can tell, brings a light, very light bit of sweetness that doesn’t really bring any balance but..what the hops are doing is working for me for this American IPA. I’ve been enjoying the beer on draught lately, and in the past, at the Old Chicago in town and the beer in the can does not disappoint at all. A very well done and easy drinking IPA. I give it a firm thumbs up for the draught and in the can. 05-27-2011 23:01:13

A- pours a clear gold with a white head and terrific lacing. S- some usual suspects bit they burst from the glass. Great citrus from bitter orange, lemon zest to some passion fruit. These tickle then back of the nose especially towards the end. Dough and cracker malts are abundant with some rich and sweet smelling wet pine. M- body seems light for this beer but it has a good tackiness to it. T- citrus comes through again with the orange and ruby red grapefruit leading the way. Sourdough bread and pine mingle in the middle with some mineral and sharp grassy quality. Minimal amounts of earth in there towards the clean and quenching end.

Can. Pours bright yellow with a big fuzzy here looking head. Nice floral nose. Creamy body with a tart bite and a bit of malt on the end. Highly carbonated. Decent and drinkable.
