22 oz. bottle from asteele8. Beautiful looking beer with a clear deep amber/ruby body and a large creamy light beige head that was still showing 1/4 inch of foam and nice lace 10 minutes after the pour. Caramel aroma with a lot of spiciness, not the nutmeg/cinnamon type, but a peppery kind. Medium body, carbonation, and a twinge of stickiness and astringency. Malt flavors at the front: burnt caramel, brown sugar, and a little dark fruit, with bitterness coming in later and finishing strongly.

22oz bomber. First glass. Filtered and deep ruby hued. Ring of clinging tight tan head. Strong hop aromas. Profile includes citrus and peppery piney aromas. Rather full bodied with a definite dry hoppy finish. Initial malts are roasty with a mildly cola sweetness. Touch of dried fruits. Lively body with firm effervescecne. Full bitter hop finish. Not too, but a nice lingering finish. Second glass. Activated the yeasty sediment. Same shade but thicker and denser head. Musty malty yeasty aromas. Still s very nice hop nose, but a tad more rounded. Blunted. Grainy with a good amount of sediment. Clinging lacing head. More fruity esters, more rounded flavors. Slight bready cocoa yeast flavor. The sweet bitter duality is melding nicely. Good underlying burn. This is a very well put together brew! Really enjoyed taking this one down.

Bottle @ übertavern: Amber, nice head and lacing. Nose of nice sappy hops and clean spruce with typical caramel malts all over the place. The flavor is nice and spunky with hoppy herbs, honey and a creamy body. Easy finish. Good.

I had not heard of this brewery before but I had the opportunity to try this at a beer tasting. It poured a light orange amber with very light head. Smells of heavy orange and citrus. Almost smelled like a fruit beer. The taste was not overbearing at all. There was a nice mix of hops with the orange to level it out a bit. Not a very long finish which for a fruitier beer,i think is good thing. This one surprised me because it is not a typical winter beer. Very good though.

big entrance and smooth finish. It has all the right mechanics just less than average flavor
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - DEC 31, 2006
Bomber, 4-16-06. Pours a pretty, creamy brassy amber, with a steady off white head. Sharp and driving aroma of burnt candy sugar, peaches, piney hops, dried apricot and kiwi, watered down caramel extract. Flavor is similar, the hops clashing wildly with the malt, skewing enjoyment. Alcohol is slightly evident, leading into a finish that is actually both long and understated. I like where they were going, I don’t think they ever made it there however. I think this brewery is solid, but a little misguided(control) when it comes to making the ingredients used meld into a truly enjoyable, flavorful product. Nonetheless this was interesting, something I’d like to give another shot.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2008 Lots of sharp malt flavors dominate this brew along side a generous helping of cascade hops. There is a nice mellowness provided by the caramel flavor which is stongley contrasted with the citrus/fruity flavor. Does not seem to go together very well but overall enjoyable.
Re-Rate 11-27-2007: Much better than previous incarnations- a little sweeter, heavier, with more of those winter pieces like toffee and caramel. Big malty drink with a nice hop presence.

Bomber. Pours a coppery dark amber with a lacy off-white head. The aroma has fruit, nuts and flowery hops. The body is medium with medium carbonation. The taste starts lightly sweet, a bit of nutty malt, some citrus and caramel. Pine-bitter finish. Tastes bigger than it is - I would have guessed another point on the alcohol.

Bottle courtesy of Pitonka. Deep mahogany with huge beige head, fades to ring eventually. Great lacing. Aroma is standard strong ale/bw. Plenty of big malt up front, caramel, toffee, brown sugar. Some nice citrus hops in the background, combination of orange zest and pineapple. Have had the bottle for about 6-8 months so hop presence was probably bigger when fresh. Flavor on par with aroma. Huge malt kick never fades. Again very minimal hops towards the finish. Nice full bodied-creamy smooth mouthfeel. Not bad at all, just doesn’t blow you away. Would probably even score a little better when fresh.

22oz bomber-Nice malty aroma with a little bit of hops. Has a dark red color with an off white head that keeps itself well. Has a nice hoppy flavor on the front end but then mixes very well with a malt flavor on the end. Great tasting beer.
