COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We created this imperial stout to celebrate our 14th year of making some of the finest beers in the Northwest. This brew is as dark as a moonless night. The nose and flavors are reminiscent of espresso, dark European chocolate and black licorice. Your palate will note the rich, decadent mouthfeel but without being thick and cloying, with a dry-ish finish. Truly as stout worthy or royalty.

A: Poured black with good carbonation presenting a brown cap and some lacing S: Big roasted malt, chocolate, light booziness on the nose with perhaps a bit of licorice T: Moderate amounts of cocoa with some roasted and black malt presenting a big roastiness and a little bit of char like tastiness. A little booze sting with some sugary sweetness, dry with a lightly bitter finish from some bitter cocoa and bittering hops. Some coffee notes about mid palate also hang in there until the finish. M: Big body, hearty and tasty. Well carbonated with no major flaws O: A pretty good RIS and probably the best beer Snoqualmie has produced to date

Bottle:   Nearly black, moderate to large foamy beige head, sticky lacing.   Straight forward roasty nose.   Slight dark chocolate.   Moderate roasted malt start, slight dark chocolate background.   Not a very hop minded Imperial Stout, which is fine by me.   Seems like minor coffee as it warms.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Yeah, not a big Imperial Stout by any means.   Clean, roasty start, not as big as the nose suggests.   Good brew, but a little lighter than most Imperial Stouts.

Bottle thanks to Ben! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice roasted malt note with a backing creamy chocolate and a hint of espresso. Flavor begins with creamy chocolate but is joined by roasted malts and some bitter/dry coffee.

Tap @ Brouwer’s. Black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, dark roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor is dark bitter cocoa, rich toffee/caramel malt with the alcohol well hidden. Full body with soft carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. Fantastic beer, lots of dry roastiness and bitterness balances out the alcohol and sweetness.

Big roasted chocolate malt body. Lots of licorice and root. Some wood smoke and a touch of vanilla. Heavily roasted espresso beans with a touch of mocha and leaf. A sour note at the end that does not quite fit with the drink.

Bomber. Pours black with a solid inch of light brown foam and bubbles. The aroma is naturally dark and roasty with a fair amount of bittersweet chocolate, black licorice, caramelized sugar and espresso bean. The taste starts out with a strong smoky roasted malt and espresso flavor along with some dark chocolate, molasses and mocha. The body is thick and creamy with lots of burnt dry roastiness and a mild booze burn in the finish. It’s a little on the sweet and rich side but definitely more drinkable than your average RIS.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours brown/black with a 1 finger creamy tan head. Aroma of dark burnt malt with strange organic aspects - like old fashioned linoleum paste. Full bodied. Flavor is dark chocolate, heavy coffee, and, yes, something anise. It’s like eating food. Lots of substance. It’s bitter, but there’s some malt sweetness, but it’s all black stuff. Finish is sort of liquorish stick dipped in chocolate with some bitter hop. It finishes both bitter and sweet - depending on where the mouthful is timewise. Pretty nifty ale.

22 oz. from Chuck’s $7.59. Smells like campfire. Pretty black color. Doesn’t quite taste "big" enough for an imperial stout (almost more like a robust porter). Kind of wish it wasn’t priced as a premium beer. Because it’s not.
