Well, here's a new twist on barleywines--a HefeWine, which utilizes 50% malted wheat similiar to a hefeweizen, only with the strength of a barleywine. We used our funky belgian yeast strain in this as well, which imparted an assertive fruity character reminiscent of pineapple! abv 9.25%, ibu 26

Draft at the brewery. Cloudy deep orange with a light but dense white creamy head. Very light pineappley nose. Big body, easily on the high side of medium, with woolly carb stretching itself out on the roof of your mouth. Big wheat sour and bubble gum mid-palate, with some spicy cloves peeking through near the end. Maybe a bit bitey at the end, but it avoids the hot twang of the Serendipity. Nicely done. Not sure why they think they invented wheat wine, but bless ’em for being happy with a beer that deserves their pride. Good stuff.
