A little perfumed in both aroma and flavour. Feels somewhat artificial and sharp. Hints of alcohol and confusing fruit. TAR (2097), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2002 Updated: May 12, 2006The foam is absolutely perfect, with small bubbles and a very consistent creaminess. The aroma is maxed with coriander and oranges; slightly medicinal, similar to Allagash Grand Cru. The delicious flavors include lemons, oranges, and a very substantial malt backdrop. The mouthfeel is perfect, being slightly syrup, yet very sharp and quenching. The bitterness is also very evident. This is a most solid example of a Grand Cru. I am off to purchase more of this Spring seasonal before it is long gone. Grand Cru fans will enjoy this thoroughly. Indra (2041), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

Spicy, sweet and floral aroma, fresh and honeyish, full of toasty amber malts and a profound yeast character. Cloudy medium-dark copper color, bottle-conditioned with plenty of sediment, head is fine and off-white in color. Flavor is sweet, spicy, citric and moderately bitter, with a mildly peppery alcohol bite to the finish. Some lingering herbal tones, orange and coriander as well. Mouthfeel is full and smoothly effervescent, body is medium. Interesting stuff. Angeloregon (2038), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 30, 2007 On tap at The Tap House. Pours a clear bright copper with a lacy white head. Aroma of apricots and spice. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Sweet and spicy taste that for some strange reason reminded me of banana and pepperoni sandwich - not that I’ve ever had such a sandwich. AmEricanbrew (2021), Almost, Texas, USA

The herbs and spices dominate the flavor here.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 24, 2002 Rich yellow appearance giving way to a soft yeasty aroma that rounded out the ester tinged flavor as well. Orange and saaz hops are interplay delicately. A crisp, very drinkable offering--this beer is easy on the palate and is an adequately chosen spring version of the belgian strong ale.
