Big monstrous head followed by a bigger Belgian spicy nose. Creamy, spicy taste. Clean long finish. Yumm.

22 oz. bottle from Beer Junction in West Seattle. Nice lookin’ brew, I must say. Thin and wispy head sits on-top of a copper, ruby body. A nice fruity bouquet hits my nose. Coriander, oranges, banana, and a subtle hint of pineapple blend perfectly together. This has an awesome aroma. Wow, the texture is creamy and allows the beer to just slide right down the throat. Easy drinking here. This beer has all of the aforementioned aromas represented in the flavor. The one thing that really sets this beer apart, is the bitterness at the end. A striking bitterness that subtly lingers on the back of the throat and tongue. Much more pineapple in the flavor, than in the aroma. A true masterpiece, in my opinion.

Bomber. Pours a lightly hazy, dark honey-amber color. An inch-thick head of spongy, cream tinted froth settles to a fat-bubbled mound, leaving dense honeycomb patterns and wide, jagged rings of lacing behind. The nose is bountiful in it’s spicing, yet tamed by careful malt balancing. Grain of paradise is prominent, and coriander is also clearly defined, while the malt bill hints at red berries and bread. Belgian yeast is spicy and mildly tart. Flavors follow suit, again showing a bevy of peppery, grainy spice, touching on tart berry and a blend of blonde and brune candy sugars. Yeasty dough is substantial, and floral hops are more prominent than expected. Overall, it’s pretty nicely balanced, but the coriander is a little heavy for my liking. The palate is medium-plus in substance, a little frothy, and semi-dry on the finish. Pretty solid brew. Not really my style, per se, but it’s well made and I can appreciate it.

From Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Poured a body of clear and dark amber beneath a creamy, tan, enduring head. Aroma was most pleasant, featuring who knows what spices and yeasts. Flavour was equally argeeable, mouth was sold, and the finish smooth. Not a bad price, either.

Bottle purchased from liquidsolutions Appearance: Red to dirty copper body with a nice 2 finger slightly off white crown. A fair amount of retention and nice lacing. Smell: Not very pungent, but a nice blend of floral hops, citrus hops, slightly sweet malt, some fruit like pineapple and nectarines. In all fairness I’ve had this bottle sitting around for 6+ months so that might have detracted from the nose. Taste: Nice belgian style yeast meets American style hops. Taste profile resembles nose. I like the slightly bitter but slightly sweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium to med-lite bodied with ample carbonation. Drinkability: Quaffable. I’m a huge fan of this brewery’s Wild Cat IPA and am fairly satisfied with this offering. Got their Steam Train Porter coming up next. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-23-2009

Though Seattle-ites are accustomed to spontaneous rain showers, these days the water is warmer and the sun is less bashful between bouts of rain. To celebrate I opened my wallet for Snoqualmie’s Spring Fever. It’s a foggy beer, bronze, with a thin white head on top. The smell is identical to your average Belgian wit, light and fresh, but heavier emphasis on its butter and wheat notes. This is a familiar smell, but strange coming from such a dark colored beer. The flavor is also akin to the classic Hoegaarden, yet sweeter, thicker and a heavier glaze of sugar in the foretaste and mid-taste, finishing with a pleasing dryness. It’s a sweet beer, but matches its caramelized sugars with savory sweets (like onions), but reflecting a darker, maltier brashness too. I like this beer, though I could understand if people accuse this brew of having far too much sweetness. But it’s Spring, so maybe a heavy dose of sugar might be what I need to wake up my taste buds for a season of lighter and hoppier beers.

22 oz. bottle via trade with highibus - Pours a clear copper with a very large off white head. Lively carbonation and lots of thick lacing. Has kind of a perfume aroma. Flavor is esters, yeast, some toasted malt, and light spice. Medium body. A nice beer. Thanks Tom.
