Commercial Description:
This lip-smacking dark ale is mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and the caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. Medium bodied, with a slightly sweet edge but a dry finish.

Thinning body, pure coffee aroma, taste has a bit of savory to it leading to a creamy mouthfeel with a touch of chocolate finish. Quite nice.

22oz bottle pours a dark red/brown with a one finger white head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, flavor follows suit. This was a pretty good porter but not the best ever. I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase it but worth trying.

Cask at Elysian’s SBW Firkin-Firkin throwdown (vs. Russian River Porter). Pours dark brown with a small frothy tan head. Weak roasty aroma. Roasty, slightly chocolaty taste. Watery mouthfeel, astringent roasty finish. Next.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours deep and dark with mocha head. The aroma seems earthy at first then burnt, roasty, a bit of smoke and chocolate. The taste is both good and yum with roast to burnt malts to go along with a layer of earthiness to start. Midway some chocolate surfaces. Toward the finish everything comes together in harmony and leaves a lingering chocolate, a bit of burnt malts and just a hint of smoke into the after taste. Very tasty indeed.

Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Dark brown pour, big dark tan head with spotty lacing. Some chocolate in the nose, caramel, coffee roast, and some dark fruit. Flavor is big dry spicy grain with rye, coffee and some roast. Medium-bodied, tasty, and balanced.
