Commercial Description:
This lip-smacking dark ale is mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and the caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. Medium bodied, with a slightly sweet edge but a dry finish.

Draft at the brewery on 7/13/07. Nearly opaque brown/black under a creamy tan head that lasted nicley. Dark chocolate, espresso, burnt toast, in an inviting aroma. Medium body and carbonation, with a nice smoothness on the palate. Burnt caramel flavors rounded by a sharp roasty bitterness with a pleasantly subtle dry finish. Very nice porter, bordering on a stout.

On draught at the Washington Brewers Festival. Aroma is roast forward with a dark chocolate sweetness. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head; good retention. Flavor is complex with some carb taste and light roasty bittering. Good chocolate and caramel notes. Mouthfeel has a good medium carb texture; med/full bodied. Overall verry good with excellent complexity.

A deep dark brown color. Great aroma with chcolate, and toffee and roasted malts. Great flavor and a deep richness that was awesome. This Beer Rocked.

Bottle: Dark brown, licorice like color, light head and lacing. Nose of nuts, cocoa, skin and a bit much of diacetyl. Flavor of some creamy chocolate and sharp astringent roast, some light nutella notes. The finish is a bit sticky and dry, lots of astringency, decent though for a robust porter.

Thank you Tom/Afer4ever for this nice surprise. It’s black with a huge, light brown and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and chocolate. The flavour is smooth, full and has nice notes of coffee, chocolate, very light sweetness and a nice bitterness. It’s a nice beer with a really nice balance and lots of flavour even if the ABV isn’t high - and I like that! 2240

Bottle: Dark brown with a large tan head. Nice lacing. Nose is mild of roasty malt and coffee, taste adds bittersweet cocoa and even more roasty notes. Creamy, but thin mouthful? Overall, pretty good. Thanks BuckDich for sharing.

Pitch black pour with a thin light brown head. Aroma of coacoa with roasted malt and hops. Solid flavor of coacoa, roasted malt and hops with a dry and bitter finish. The body is light with a powdery texture and medium carbonation. A nice porter.

Chocolate sweetness with plenty of fruit character in the nose. Opaque black body is topped by a low tan head that lasts well and laces. Chocolate sweetness and fruitiness reminiscent of raisins occupy the tastebuds with a doughy, bready malt character. Medium body with decent carbonation. Bottle sampled with beerbuzzmontreal, cathschlag, MartinT, Siroy and Yowie.
