after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2006 Bomber. Pours just about jet black (even in a skinny glass) with a fairly well unmanageably large tannish/pumpkin head. Not much lace, but gorgeous to look at. Big licorice and toast on the nose. Creamy attack, though it’s a medium body with light carb. Delicious chocolate and toffee mid-palate, with a little roast and hop bitterness in the finish. Outstanding example of a porter. dret (22), santa cruz, California, USA May 2, 2006 hoppy, sweet, robust, smokey. Just about what I look for in a porter. Could be a little thicker and creamier. I’m impressed though for sure. Light dryness. Hints of dark choco and coffee flavors. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 21, 2006 Draught Black beer with a yellow head, small. Licorice, ink, black mushrooms, and dark malts (surprise, surprise). Generally bit sweet nose. Dry, dark, burnt grains taste - severe but honest. Dry, slight burning MF. Good porter. The dryness and profile are right on spot, congrats. fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Apr 7, 2006 Updated: Jan 10, 2007Lots of chocolate and coffee flavor in this dark sweet brew - Nice full body. Very smooth drink. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Apr 4, 2006 (22 oz bottle: $3.39 at Bottleworks in Seattle, WA) After opening 5 consecutive bottles of infected porter from OTHER Pacific-Northwest breweries, Snoqualmie Falls comes to the rescue with not only a healthy porter, but a damn tasty one too! Roasty, smoky, ashy and fairly bitter, but also sweet and very chocolaty, so the balance of the two contrasting flavors is magnificent. There is also a moderate earthy, tart, woody, cherry character for added complexity. The chocolate flavor transforms from a sweet, milk chocolate to a more bitter and dark chocolate flavor in the finish. Although roast and chocolate are present in the nose, it’s also somewhat yeasty too, so I’m less enthused by how this beer smells. Medium-full bodied, perhaps a tad acidic, and highly carbonated, so this isn’t the most pleasant mouthfeel I’ve experienced with a porter. Pours a tall, foamy, tan head atop a pitch black body. Despite a bit of roughness on the palate, this is a quality porter. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 21, 2006 Nearly black with a brownish creamy head. Tasted good at first but after a while it just didn’t seem that great. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Mar 4, 2006 22oz. bottle. Nearly opaque brown with ruby edges. Large rocky dark tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some bittersweet chocolate sweetness, some caramel as well. Coffeebean roasted astringency flavor, later manifesting some chocolate sweetness. Residual caramel tones and a fading bitter astringency in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium, fairly smooth and rather dry. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Feb 26, 2006 (bottle - 22 oz) To begin with, a big thank you to jah noth for splitting this bottle with me. Black pour with a big mound of tan foam. Very rich aroma of burnt and roasted malts mixed with some chocolate and some hops. Smooth chocolate flavor with a lot of roasted malt hints and a nice hop balance to polish off the flavor. Very creamy. Thanks for sharing this one Dan.
