It’s black with a huge, light brown and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and chocolate. The flavour is smooth, full and has nice notes of coffee, chocolate, very light sweetness and a nice bitterness. It’s a nice beer with a really nice balance and lots of flavour even if the ABV isn’t high - and I like that! 2240

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Bottle at Madsberg 2008 Tasting. Pours light brown red with a small, cappucino, film head. Aroma is lightly roasted, some definite rubber and chocolate. Highish carbonation, a bit weak mouthfeel. Flavour has coffee, is rather dry and roasted. The rubber is in the flavours as well, and really detracts for me. hopscotch (5474), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Bottle… Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, light brown head. Good retention. The nose is a swirl of chocolate, diacetyl, guava, avocado and smoke. The flavor is reminiscent of smoked beef jerky… a touch salty and mildly sweet. Light to medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Watery, sweet, acrid finish. Not bad. Good, in fact, but a bit thin. My sample was courtesy of boboski. Thanks Jason!
