Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium body dominated by the hard roasted malts. Surprisingly bitter finish. 291208

bottle thanks to boboski:
pours a deep chocolate brown with no head but a thin line of cocoa brown. aroma of cocoa and milk chocolate touches of roast and a little sweetness. flavour is a little weak and just a little watery, but ok for a porter. it has the same cocoa and milk chocolate flavours as the nose. coffee was also present.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma of roasted malts & cocoa. Heavily roasted malts and a slight hop bitterness. Minor cocoa, chocolate as well. Medium body. Slightly dry finish, with a decent chocolately roasted malt flavor.

Sampler @ Chuck’s. Totally solid porter. All the right aromas that make me want to drag a pint out over a long night at the pub. One drawback was too much carbonation. The other was too little flavor. Washed out in the finish, but then sometimes I forget the difference between porters and stouts.

Black body with a short-lived tan head. Pleasant initial chocolaty roastiness, like burnt toasts with Nutella. Then the fruity flavours take over. Grapes, raisins, plums, etc. Vinous and even a bit sour. Too fruity and vinous for me. An ok beer. Started promising but the train ran out of steam.

Nice dark brown almost black color, thick and long lasting head, good lacing. Very sweet chocolate aroma. This is an incredibly smooth porter. Reminds me of drinking french silk pie. Not much sticks out in this one though. A bit of sweetness, and very smooth. Good, but nothing special.

Coffee and vanilla nose, nice chocolate roasted malts. Pours dark brown. Roasted malts, hints of bakers chocolate, waterdown coffee, fairly light but extremely drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 IndianaRed (1798) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 3, 2004
Bottle Pours very dark chocolatey brown with a very hefty tan head and decent lacing. Aroma seems a bit light for the style. Hazelnut, coffee and dark roast. Subtle though. Flavor is more coffee-ish and smokey/burnt. Feel is a bit thin and the aftertaste has a nice sharp bite that lingers. Not bad, but was hoping for more.

22 oz. bottle pours a black color with a fleeting brown head. Strong smell of roasted nuts and malts. Rich, hearty taste is of dark roasted malts with an ever so subtle sweet bread flavor. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes with a roasted grain taste in the throat. April 2004
