3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Big chocolate nose with some roastieness. Pours chestnut brown with a loose tan head. Roasy flavors of coffee and cholate abound but a bit over carbonated. Finishes dry but a bit a bit thin with thin coffee flavors.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It's about damn time I got around to drinking this beer, considering it's my alchoholic neighbor and all. Well, this had a surprisingly strong flavor, although it suffered from a very watery mouthfeel - keeping it from the robustness that makes a porter truly great. Hints of smokey espresso and chocolate in the malt never really came through very well, which would have helped its case immensely. Definitely finishes dry, but has little wetness in the middle to balance it out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Nice black colour, coffee tan head. Lacing is not as thick as I’d like for a porter. Very fruity on the nose, nice roasted malts and barley smell. Taste is very smooth, roasts and chocolates dominate, but hops/fruits are also very present. Finishs very smooth. Good brew.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma of roasted malts & cocoa. Heavily roasted malts and a slight hop bitterness. Minor cocoa, chocolate as well. Medium body. Slightly dry finish, with a decent chocolately roasted malt flavor.

3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle… Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, light brown head. Good retention. The nose is a swirl of chocolate, diacetyl, guava, avocado and smoke. The flavor is reminiscent of smoked beef jerky… a touch salty and mildly sweet. Light to medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Watery, sweet, acrid finish. Not bad. Good, in fact, but a bit thin. My sample was courtesy of boboski. Thanks Jason!

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle thanks to boboski:
pours a deep chocolate brown with no head but a thin line of cocoa brown. aroma of cocoa and milk chocolate touches of roast and a little sweetness. flavour is a little weak and just a little watery, but ok for a porter. it has the same cocoa and milk chocolate flavours as the nose. coffee was also present.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught pint at Redbones on 11/1/07
Thin, but well-retained dark beige head tops a maroon-tinted-chocolate brown body, medium-high clarity. Little lacing.
Roast and chocolate are the mainstays of the aroma, with neither dominating, and neither being all that aromatic, really. But fresh yeast and green, juicy hops add some further complexity. Muted vinousness emerges slightly with warming, but gooey fudge notes interrupt. Some bare specks of exposed roasted malts do dry the finish, but lend a bit too much ashiness.
Very smooth, chewy texture is immediately attractive, while milk chocolate-like malt sweetness fills out the body and the palate goes to work digesting. Green, juicy, floral and lightly citric hops add little/no bitterness and typical American porter flavors. Dry, grainy malts, soft, doughy yeast and burnt malt notes all succeed in muting the finish, but some bitter cocoa-like notes persist. The chewy body helps balance the bitterness for the most part, however, and what’s left is a drinkable, straightforward porter, leaving, perhaps, a little more flavor and vinousness to be desired. No alcohol or flaws noted.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampler @ Chuck’s. Totally solid porter. All the right aromas that make me want to drag a pint out over a long night at the pub. One drawback was too much carbonation. The other was too little flavor. Washed out in the finish, but then sometimes I forget the difference between porters and stouts.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice dark brown almost black color, thick and long lasting head, good lacing. Very sweet chocolate aroma. This is an incredibly smooth porter. Reminds me of drinking french silk pie. Not much sticks out in this one though. A bit of sweetness, and very smooth. Good, but nothing special.
