Commercial Description:
This lip-smacking dark ale is mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and the caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. Medium bodied, with a slightly sweet edge but a dry finish.

Aromas of molasses, vanilla, raw grains. Some cherry fruitiness, oak, and smoke. Tastes of dark chocolate, darkly toasted marshmellows (a sweet woody flavor). Dominated by sublte roasted malts. Hints of hazelnuts (think nutella). Good bittersweet finish. Easy-going palate, creamy texture. Finishs dry and sticky, like a bitter chocolate milkshake. A sublty satsifying porter, not overly thick + smoky like many of the genre.

Overcarbonated pour fills 3/4 of the glass with head, then settles into an opaque black with a thinner airy, spotty-lacing beige head. Aroma of semi-sweet, but mostly roasted malts with a touch of piny hops and dark chocolate. Body starts somewhat fizzy, but has good sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts well balanced with some mild earthy hop bitterness before a crisp, roasty finish with good lingering dark chocolate character. A very nice robust porter.

Courtesy of Acertain. The aroma is very concentrated with milk chocolate, cream and dark cocoa. The body is black with brown highlights and the head is mocha colored and quickly fades into a wispy, filmy slick of an affair. Some dark fruit notes in the fore...approaches blueberry. Dark chocolate, burnt/roasted bitter notes through the middle. Decent beer with a sweeter fore than usual, but no lack of roast bitterness.

Thanks to brewdad for giving me a chance to try this. Poured thick black into the glass. Bitter chocolate on the nose. Taste was chocolate, a hint of coffee, black licorice, with a nice bittersweet finish. Full bodied and flavorful. a bit underrated I would say.
