9/26/08 From the bottle. Aroma is citrus forward, earthy, with a slightly sweet background. Appearance is hazy orange with a well maintained white head. Flavor is quite harsh despite the citrus bittering and sweetness fairly even in strength. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, starchy, with a medium carb feel. Overall, so so. It’s impressive in strength but tough to do more than sip.

Bomber. The commericial description is pretty accurate. There was a definate hops presence but it was well balanced by a caramel, toasty malt baclkbone which gave it a good deal of complex and intense flavor but also had a great drinkability. Well done.

Draft. Pours a straw gold. Orange peel on the nose. Lots of orange, grape fruit and pine. Presently sweet. A bubbly mouth feel with a dry bitter finish. Good IPA!

Poured an effervescent golden with huge bubbles with a massive creamy/frothy off-white head which, strangely enough, never dissipated. I am at a lost to explain this. I have had heads that have very slowly dissipated, but this one never seemed to move at all. Aroma of floral citrus and pine, though a tad faint to me. Flavor is fairly sweet, living up to this beer’s claim of being balanced. Heavy orange and grapefruit citrus with a touch of pine makes for a pleasant hop profile, leading to a semi-dry finish. Body feels a little thick. A good IPA with no noticeable flaws and some unique characteristics that did not blow me away but did leave me satisfied.

Bottle acquired via the generosity of Sparky27..Eric is AWESOME!!! Trade with this guy if given the opportunity!!! Richy Rich (Golden...cheesy, I know) pour produced a sticky meringue head and multiple ringlets inside the glass. Aroma is all pine and citrus...flavor of grapefruit, orange peel, and sweet malt. Good carbonation. Glad I had an opportunity to try this!!! Eric, thanks again!!!

22oz bottle from Old_Mr_Crow. This beer pretty much rules. Pours slightly hazy orange amber with a good size dense head that hangs around and leaves good lace. Smells fruity and floral hoppy. Nice sweet malt aroma mixes with the citrus and bitterness of the hops... beautiful. Tastes just as good. Nice balance between the sweet, caramel malt flavor and the floral, citrusy hops. Lingering hop/citrus bitterness. Medium body, velvetty yet crisp carbonation.

22oz bottle. Opaque dark orange color. Excellent fragrant hop and sweet malt aroma, hard to put into words. Big, chewy west coast IPA. All out Columbus assault. Not syrupy, but the hops definitely linger long after each sip. Really quite an excellent example of the style. Like the description says, the malt stands up quite well to the hopitude. I’ve been enjoying single hopped beers, and this is one of the best I’ve had.

bottle in trade from thethrone. Thanks!
Pours a nice light hazy amber with a good sized beige head. Smell is clean, soft, fresh and fruity. Taste is clean and hoppy and mild to begin with, along with a finish that is maltier and lightly doughy and sweeter. A mild bitterness, still, lingers in the finish, but not a super bitter IPA. Over, reminded me of a slightly maltier and doughier Pliny, in that the hop flavor was simple and clean, to me.
