Pours a nice light hazy amber with a good sized beige head. Smell is clean, soft, fresh and fruity. Taste is clean and hoppy and mild to begin with, along with a finish that is maltier and lightly doughy and sweeter. A mild bitterness, still, lingers in the finish, but not a super bitter IPA. Over, reminded me of a slightly maltier and doughier Pliny, in that the hop flavor was simple and clean, to me. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA

At this point I am quite a critic of IPA’s. Half a year ago, this would have blown me away and stood out in my mind for months. However, today, all though it is top notch, it still falls behind the elites, such as Laconner (Bottleworks) IPA. Regardless, this is an IPA that should not dissapoint. This one focuses to much on the lemon flavor for me to be wowed by it. It also has a strong grapefruit presence. Somewhat bitter but sweet also. It was alright. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

Aroma is very floral and fruity hoppiness with the apricots showing quite a bit, very nice aroma. Taste is heavy, almost like a IIPA, but it’s not, nice piney hoppiness, along with the fruitiness still showing pretty strong. Body seems a little thick for the style but it’s fine. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange with a thick, yet quickly disappearing white head. Pretty profound hop aroma, with a nice citrus background. Big and bold. The flavor is huge bitter hops, almost burnt hops or something. I get very little of that citrus that I smelled, more leafy and grassy. There was some definite maltiness in there to give it a little balance, along with some caramel. The finish then turns to hop bitterness and stays that way in the aftertaste. Interesting, but a touch too bitter.
