Dense but thin white head. Thick sheets of white lace. Lemony, grassy, caramelly and piney nose. Rich medium body with soft, perfectly placed carb. Bold shots of pine rip across the attack and the mid-palate. Bracingly bitter creosote cascades down the finish. Wonderful refreshing stuff. Ibrew2or3 (2848), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2007 Pours a clear deep gold with tall bubbly tan head that just doesn’t fade away. That head was buoyed up by the carbonation and just didn’t die. The aroma is mild with hints of floral hops and mild malt sweetness. The flavor begins with hoppy bitterness from floral and spicy hops that are amped up due to the big carbonation. This beer is certainly over carbonated for the style. There is a mild note of malt sweetness that intercedes before the hop bitterness grows into the after taste. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 6, 2008 Pine and grapefruit, big on the hops, sharp bitterness. The hops give off an earthy and almost gritty sensation. On first taste I didn’t think this had enough malts, but once the initial bitter shock passed the malts came through, still the underdog in this one, but kept it from feeling thin. riversideAK (2808), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2007 A pleasantly balanced NW IPA. Gold orange color with good lacing and a lasting head. Earthy hop aroma with some grapefruit rinds too. Floral and herbal bitterness is light with a nice biscuity malt backbone. Not too bitter, not too sweet. Extremely drinkable for 6.6%. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2009 Nice appearance. Decent texture, albeit a little light. Starkly toasted malts. Chalky caramel. Some orange with a bit of rind. Grassy-citrusy hops. OK, just not overly exciting, IMO. michael-pollack (2761), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 27, 2003 Dark orange - think Texas Longhorns uniforms. Cloudy and thin head. More of a citrus hop flavor than other NW IPAs Nice malt profile in the mid-palate and finishes dry. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2003 This could quite easily be in the top 5 of perfect IPAs. OUtstanding flavor, from the hops that bite you back when your first take a sip. With a nice malty balance so it does not get out of control. A truly great beer I had when I was in Seattle recently.
