COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Snowshoe Grizzly Brown Ale is the darkest beer available at the brewery, with a distinct, roasted malt character, dark color and medium hop finish. It pours out a deep brown color with ruby highlights, the head Bunyanesque in size, semi-creamy in texture. The aroma is of lightly toasted grain, caramel, and black walnut sweetness. Grizzly Brown Ale is brewed with five different malts giving it a rich roasted flavor and a smooth finish.

Had this beer several times...just getting around to rating it. Poured out of a growler filled at the brew pub. Pours a dark rich, coffee brown. Light off white head. Aroma is roasted barley. Taste is caramel, coffee and slight booze on the aftertaste. Good beer!

Bottle from Raley’s in Vacaville, CA. Pours a dark brown with a hint of red. Roasty malt flavor with a hint of carmel. The palate was little of on this one and fell apart on the tongue. A little thin bodied for my taste. Average brew.

Bottle. Pours clear deep chestnut with a large fizzy tan head and clumpy lacing. Aroma is caramel, toffee, roasted malts. Flavor is about the same with notes of tobacco and coffee. Medium body.

A dark brown colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of caramel, some fruits and malts. The taste of some sweet caramel, fruits and a little bitter. The aftertaste of sweet caramel with notes of bitter.

Poured into my Newcastle Geordie Schooner glass. Even a slow gentle pour of this results in a ridiculous amount of head. Dark ruby brown with a tan head that extends above the glass. Aroma is hard to judge since its being filtered out by a 3 inch head, but I get a little nuttiness and chocolate malt. Flavor is mild nuttiness with a touch of chocolate and some metallic undertones. Medium bodied with lively carbonation (as if anyone wasn’t expecting that based on the head...). I was excited about this beer because I used to have a coworker that raved about it and this is the first time I’ve found it, but this was just OK. Definitely tastier brown ales out there.

Mine came exploding out of the bottle but after that it was pretty good. Dry, coffee, chocolate, burnt caramel. Nice bitterness and sweet combo. Slight infected sting which took away from it’s smooth character but almost made it a sour brown. I know my description of it may sound horrible but it was very good. I liked it.

Poers a darker redish brown, this one had a huge head. The taste is a bit sour withroasted coffee and hints of chocolate followed by a bit of bitterness. Very carbonated.

Draft. Light brown with a light tan head. Caramel, lightly roasty, nuts, and a bit of chocolate. Not bad for a brown ale.

Poured into a glass from the bottle. Aroma is pretty weak. So flavour naturally is also mild. I did detect some roasted malt and chocolate. Palate is more silky like a oatmeal stout. When compared to oatmeal stout, its pretty good, as a brown, its ok. But ehh, downtown brown is better.

Bottle. Pours with a brown body (medium clarity), tan head that is quick to fade. Aromas are of chocolate, nutty, brown sugar, fudge, leather, and a bit of metal. Flavors are nutty, tobacco, a bit husky, chocolate, roasty. Astringent. Medium bubbles and body. On the drier side of things.
