This beer pours a clear, amber body with an inch of off-white to light-tan head that settles to a wide ring and broken sheet. The aroma is sweet and malty, very caramely, with just a touch of citrusy hops. Same story on the palate; lots of sweet, caramely malt and orange citrus from the hops. Bitterness is very mild, so the malty sweetness does tend to run rampant, but there does seem to be a touch of diacetyl leading to a flavor of buttered toast. Medium in weight, partially from the sweetness, and carbonation is medium, but this beer certainly does not finish dry. Overall, a very basic red ale, kind of a throwback to the early days of craft brewing. Nowadays, most people might complain about how low in hops this beer is, and it’s certainly not complex, but it does represent an adequate entry-level beer for those looking to get into craft beer.

Sampled at pinball. Very smooth. A nice fruit and malt backbone. Just a little spicy hops under that. A lot of understated goodness.

Aroma is light tropical fruit, caramel and mild sweetness. The flavor is caramel malts, tropical fruit, a small hint of hop resin and a tangy/bitter finish.

22oz bottle 4/20/13 (Binny’s Naperville Clearance Rack)-46° in English Pint-Pours a clear medium amber with a loose two finger off white head. Aroma of hops, malt, and caramel. Taste of malt, caramel, and hops coming thru on the back end. This medium bodied amber is well balanced and quite tasty.

Pour is a cloudy dark orange with a large white head. Aroma is sweet amber malts and a wee bit of hops. Flavor is again a nice thick malt with a little hoppy backbone. Decent beer. Nothing great but nothing bad either. A heavy malt forward beer.

Cloudy Amber, thin head, moderate carbonation. Some light hop aroma with malt, carmel, light roast, some fruit maybe tropical like with orange and melon notes. Wheat like or bready malt. Taste is malty with some carmel notes, somewhat hoppy, has a flatness in the middle of taste, maybe some oxidation. Has chocolate, has a hoppy dullness towards the end along with a light bitter. Some dry toast/roast at finish, could use more bittering. Average/maybe above average.Pretty good anytime beer.

This beer was only okay for me. Heavy on the malt, it’s a bit sticky sweet as well. Some hops are there but weakly. A disappointment after the pale.

Pours a deep, brownish amber with an off-white, creamy head. The head is somewhat small, but retains well. Aroma is of malt and some flowery hops but a bit faint. Taste starts with hops and finishes with a slightly sweet malt character. The hops aren’t too bitter but the taste lingers for a while. Good drinkability.

Deep amber. Head vanished quickly, into average lace. Aroma is of malts and caramel, but a bit subdued. .Mouthfeel is medium. Not much carbonation. Taste is smooth, and sweet at the start with a bit of hoppiness to end it. The malts and carmels are very evident, but not overwhelming. Nice balance. Would like it more if had more body and a bigger hoppy bite.
