COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SoCal Seismic IPA is our California rendition of the popular English India Pale Ale. Abundance of English and American hops create a big, bold and aggressively hopped beer that is so intensely smooth, it will knock you off your feet.

On tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood. The beer had a nose of fresh citrus with pine in the background. The first taste is bracing on the mouth. Nice grapefruit bitterness. A bit of sweetness emerges later. Seems well balanced. The taste made me think of a citrus sweet tart. Slightly thick mouth with nice soft carbonation. Well made IPA but not a hop monster.

22oz bottle 4/25/13 (Binny’s Naperville Clearance Rack)-38° in Shaker-Pours a murky orangish amber with a huge off white head. Aroma of hops, malt, and citrus. Taste of citrus and malt. This medium bodied brew is not bad.

Bottle and served in GI IPA Tulip: Pours an initially coppery golden hue with a lovely frothy head and very good lacework. The aroma has plenty of tropical fruit and herbal esters, hint of pepper, biscuity malt and some aspirin earthiness. The taste is fruity and light bittered, very well balanced and makes for an easy going drinker. Dry chalky finish with plenty of sprite carbonation. Nothing that will knock your socks off but a nice Sunday Spring brew.

Meringue-like foam reminiscent of the mashed potato sculpture of Devil’s Tower in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Couldn’t not give this a five in appearance for that alone. Burnt tangerine body. Aroma and flavor aren’t nearly as interesting. Dusty, leafy, earthy, grassy, malty. Solid offering but wouldn’t seek out again.

Poured from bottle from Binnys. Clear orange with some bubbly white foam. Citrus peach aroma. Good floral hoppy and bitter flavor. Straight forward IPA. Pretty good

PLeasant grapefruit pith/herbal/flowery aroma. Flavor is sweet and floral, some citrus. Medium to low bitterness. Pleasant beer but it isn’t anything that special.

Pour is a hazy orange with a big white head. Aroma is a nice piney hop. Flavor is the same. Nice hoppy resin with little or no malt presence. A straight forward bare bones soild IPA.

Bottle. Pours dark yellow with thin head. Aroma somewhat weak, pine and citrus notes. Flavor is malt, floral, pine and some citrus in the back. Bitter finish. English ipa not my favorite style, but not to shabby.

Crisp very slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a super thick, dense five centimetre tall tan head - very nice looking. Aroma of bright grassy and herbal hops with a hint of malt, some alcohol and a bit of bitterness noticeable in the nose. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive grassy and citrus hops noticeable up front with a good malt backbone and a nice, sweet, piney hop flavour and an apricot and fruit sweetness at the end. Aftertaste shows some good hops with a nice sweetness and a great malt backbone. Overall, a nice, but not amazing IPA - good to sample for sure, but if I could only have one from the west coast, this wouldn’t be it. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California on 05-August-2012 for US$4.97 sampled at home in Washington on 11-November-2012.

Bottled. An amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of peaches, oranges, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, dusty hops, and peaches, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.
