On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is light and spicy with cinnamon, clove, coriander and pepper. Nice yeast esters. The flavor is dry and spicy with more cinnamon, coriander with a touch of pepper and clove. Pale malt and light pear esters in the background. A good Belgian.

FlacoAlto (3810) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 3, 2012
Sampled at Societe; July 2012
Clear, light gold hue, with a frothy, thin, white head. The aroma has an ample earthy spiciness to it, that is not unlike grassy coriander. This is supported by a fruitiness that reminds me of pears and perhaps a touch of melon, as well as some grassy, pale cracker leaning, malt aromatics. The malt plays a clearly supporting role to the yeast / fermentation character.

Slightly sweet, with lots of fruity esters, the beer tastes of green apple, pear, and perhaps a touch of melon. There is a grassy, and herbal straw character here that is a compilation of the malt, some light hop notes and the fermentation character. This has a solid, though light, bitterness to it in the finish, and there is a slightly musty, earthy, spiciness as well as ample, clove like phenolic character that really lingers in the finish.

Not bad, but seems a bit on the “hot” side. It is not actually hot from alcohol, but does seem like the yeast strain might be a bit too characterful for the rest of this beer. Still, this is quite enjoyable.

Steve_0 (3268) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Sampled on Tap at GABF 2014. Pour is clear lemon with a frothy white head and great lacing. Heavy phenolic, grass, some white pepper, coriander, biscuit, basil, and lemony aroma. Taste is straw, phenolic, black pepper, Belgian yeasty, banana, and oranges with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. OK, but nothing like some of their other offerings.

Brigadier (3195) - Clevelandish, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2014

This Belgian ale had a very distinct West Coast feel. Unlike the dry texture of those in Europe this one hides a delayed bitterness. Just thinking about it again makes my mouth water.

Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated golden base shimmers with life. Light honey, cereal grains, candy sugar, and a fresh airy feel are open and fit in well with the nice weather. This does not have much depth but what is present works to maximum effect.

Flavor / Palate - Golden crisp, honey, and cotton candy rise from the tongue to fill the mouth with freshness. The fabric softener finish tickles the throat. If it were a bit lower ABV then this would make a great session beer. As it is two or three pints would be a great way to spend an evening.

9 mar 2013, tap at the Societe. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is saison yeast, light gold ale, lemon meringue. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Straw, skunky golden ale yeast. Okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the brewery. Pours clear gold with a fizzy bubbly white head and decent lacing. Tastes sweet and fruity, the tropical fruit, bubblegum, and citrus hops, light yeast, caramel. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like citrus hops, caramel, bubblegum, and light yeast.

On tap at the brewery. Clear light yellow pour with a white head. Grass and hay bouquet. Hay and the Belgian yeast kinda overrun the hop notes. Average body and mouthfeel.

Pale color with fluffy head. Aroma is belgian yeast with lots of spices and banana and herbs. Taste is sweet and a bit syrupy. Not for me.
