4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Beautiful hazy and vibrant light golden color in the class with a froth of white foam. Aroma is not necessarily the most pungent but there is a nice mix of light white wine from the nelson with some hop bitterness and pine. Taste is hop dominated with citrus, pine, and medium bitterness over a fairly clean, lightly sweet malt backbone. Good IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Type: 6-oz. draft
Glass: Tall, clear, slender glass
From: Societe Brewing in San Diego, Calif.
Purchased: July 8, 2016
Consumed: July 8, 2016
Had this once before and thought it was decent (3.75 on Untappd), but nothing special. Snuck over to Societe after dropping something off for work and heading to a local hospital quick to review a quick one. Hoping this would be better than I originally had it.
Poured a golden yellow, clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy white head when I got it. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Above average retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled nice and tropical up front, specifically guava and mango. Also floral hops, Nelson-like and Citra. First part of sell was great, but it thinned out rather quickly. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still followed it. Got dry tropical hops mango, bitter tropical rind, guava, Citra, spicy (Simcoe or Amarillo), hints of Nelson, resin and lemon zest. (Taste - 4.00)
Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt bitter finish. Goes down nice. (Feel - 4.25)
A very good IPA, even better than I thought it would be. (Overall - 4.00)

Tap at Societe and later at Biergarden Encinitas. Minimal head, dank and citrusy aroma, strong stonefruit and apricot flavours, mild bitterness (in comparison to other West Coast IPAs. I could drink this all day. Fantastic post-surf beer.

Pint poured at societe brewery in Kearney Mesa. Pours hazy yellow with small white head. Smells of tropical fruit and pine. Taste is hops with citrus (seems to be common flavor in San Diego). Another great beer. Great for sipping in warm weather. Gonna miss this place.

This is a perfect beer. My only issue is that Societe doesn’t bottle or can it.
