3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Societe, pours near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out roasted malt, toasted notes, and piney hops. Flavour brings out a good balance of roast and piney hops - extremely well-crafted and without any harshness. Excellent stuff.

Sample at the tasting room. This brew is a deep brown color with a medium tan head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt, hops and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, toasted malt and cocoa. The finish is malty up front with a resiny hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tap at Societe. Clear cola pour with webby lacing. Nose is roasted red onion. Taste is savory, pine, roasted red onion. Soapier, sharply bitter body. Strange, but enjoyable.

On tap. Pours with a brown hued body with a tan head. Aromas are of brown sugar, nutty, medium roast, hoppy and herbal. Flavors are bitter, roasty, herbal and grassy. Nutty finish. Medium-low bitterness. Lively carbonation, medium dry. Not my thing balance wise.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a black-dark brown with one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, coffee, caramel, sweet malts, and some pine. Taste is about the same as the aroma with the addition of some bakers coco notes. Has a medium body wit a slighty creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium long finish. Overall, a pretty nice black IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice brown color with ample 2 fingers head and plenty of lacing. Smell is of tons of caramel, loads of citrusy hops and bready yeast. Taste is like a cross between debutante and dandy with a splash of widow and apprentice, really interesting beer but not cascadian dark, this is a San Diego Dark. Nice caramel and chocolate on the front palate with a nice transition mid palate to the citrusy hops and finishes with a bready yeast and bitter dry finish. This beer is good for the style, most others taste just of roasted malt but this brings out some great caramel and chocolate flavors but with some great citrusy hops.
