Nate (2234), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2007 Draught at brewery. Nice sweet malt aroma, mild yeasty esters with rich ripe fruit and candi sugar. Very aromatic and true to style. Hazy amber brown with thin off-white head. Medium watery body, just short of being thick, with medium carbonation. Starts with malt and biscuit. Big sweet malty flavor, bit of candi sugar and caramel. Rich flavor of a traditional Belgian dubbel with a dry bitter finish. Very nicely done. BuckeyeBoy (1129), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 21, 2007 On tap at brewpub. Pours out a hazy brown topped with a white head. Nice and sweet along with a mouthfull of malt. Pretty nice pinkzambia (881), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 15, 2007 Tap at brewpub: Cloudy brown with a small ring head. Flavors of bananas and cloves are evident with a soapy aftertaste. It was actually better than my rating suggests. jake65 (1238), Meridian, Idaho, USA Jun 25, 2007 Draft: Pours a murky brown amber with a thick off-white head. Nice lacing. Sweet and malty with a strong presence of dark fruits. The normal Belgian style spices, yeasty, and with citrus & banana accents. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 12, 2007 Tap: Nearly the first pint from a fresh keg. Poured a muddy, super cloudy brownish orange color. Very light carbonation, no head or lacing. The nose is bright with sharp citrusy yeast and light hop, some fig and caramel malts are hiding underneath, but it’s still a bit brash and young. The flavor is fruity with a solid malty body and gobs of yeast esters all over the place. There’s all of your banana/clove stuff, the green apples, some spice. Oh, and some alcohol in the background. Potentially good, just a bit out of its element at the moment. I’ll have to retry this one.
