3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma and flavor of nuts, roast grains. Thin head fading to nothing on dark brown body. Taste a bit more bitter than 17 IBUs, was expecting this to be a heller bock, so pleasantly surprised to find it dark.

16 ounce can, just listed as maibock. Pours a dark ruby color with a small white head. A light fruity nose with some caramel. Flavorful: rich ripe fruits, strawberries, some dusty sweet malts, dark caramel and toffee. Earthy dry finish. Good.

Pounder can found at the 16th St. Albertsons... Poured into my HotD goblet... Darker than most Maibocks, but no real complaints... Close to the higher end of darkness... clear deep amber.... light tannish head sticks around for a while leaving decent spotty lacing.
Nose is also a little "dark"... IMO closer to a bigger bockbier or a lesser doppelbock... maltiness has a distinct toastiness/melanoidin quality... still very clean malt profile with barely enough hops to be perceptible.
Flavors have a nutty/dry toasty essence too... but again, very clean... surprisingly clean for a stateside bock... should probably lean more toward the pils/pale malt, but this is a fantastic jumping off point.
Body is medium with a medium carbonation... pretty much spot-on.
Picked up the 4-pack and damn happy I did... These will be enjoyed for days to come.
Tone back the darker malts and ramp up the pils malt and this will be a huge winner.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark hazy brown color. Aromas of bread, malt, and some fruit. Flavor has a touch of sweet malt and clove, I think. Overall, not to bad.
