UPDATED: DEC 19, 2006 Bottle, thanx yngwie! Dark ruby, small head. Lovely smell of coffee. Lovely coffe aroma, too, but the overall taste is tar. It is so strong that you hear the creaking in old ropes and the cry of seagulls. It is a great beer, but it is not for the faint-hearted (or the lager lads!)

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Blackish colour with a medium head. Hints of coffee and chocolate in the flavour, but not too much. Slightly bitter sweet finish. A bit too watery for a stout tho.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draught at the brewpub, August 2005. I actually had two versions of this beer - the one on tap, which is a bottom fermented Baltic Porter style and a prototype top-fermented beer from the conditioning tank in a dryer, more roasty style. The brewer/owner told me they were considering whether to switch over to the top-fermented version permanently but I don’t know whether they ever did. The "original" version was sweetish and not that full, but with plenty of sharp fruit and slightly sour edge to the finish. The "new" version from the conditioning tank was not quite ready and I’ve not taken it into account for the rating but, for what its worth, I found it nicely dry, with plenty of bitterness and a surprisingly fruity, almost flowery, aroma.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample on tap at the brewpub. Black colour, no head, moderate carbonation. Roasty aroma with notes of tar, liquorice / aniseed dominates. Distinct heavy roastiness from start to finish, bitter and dry, notes of strong coffee. Mouthfeel could have been fuller.

Black with a nougat head, that reminds me of the Limfjords Porter, but not as creamy and sturdy, and it disappears rather quickly. The aroma has notes of licorice, a bit of smoke and some candy. The mouthfeel is rather oily. The flavour has notes of sweet licorice, caramel, smoke and the previously mentioned sweets/candy. A nice, but average stout.

Dark brown beer with a foamy light brown head. Sweet butter aroma with a roasted tone. Full and rather cloying. Weird flavor. Butter, fruit and roasted malt. Long finish with some bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2008 Bottle. Black with a rather shortlight brownish head. Aroma: roasted malts, chocolate and hops. Flavour is creamy, roasty and hoppy, bit dry, chocolate, some liquorice. Great long aftertaste. In my opinion one of the very better beers from this brewery.
