Sokol Pivo It comes with a clear and golden color with a satisfying white head. The smell is very gentle and pleasant, mostly hoppy and some grainy malts. The taste is likewise nice and extremelly refreshing, although just slightly watery and with some sweet malt. No real bitterness, but to be fair I wasn’t expecting any. A nice beer, especially taking into account the fact it’s a low budget beer. Ice cold will quench your thirs easily, and you’ll be able to gulp down a couple of these easily.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 0.5l green bottle. Clear golden color with decent white head, highly carbonated. Aroma of grains and lemon. Taste is sweet and little sour, no bitterness. Ultra refreshing. I like this beer very much, watery and still has some taste.

It’s buget beer from Karlovacka pivovara. Another industrial pale lager. Average to below average quality. Reminds me of the diluted heniken

.5l bottle picked up in Split, brought back to Belgrade. Sour-tart body that is not as light and refreshing as I had thought it would be. Buttery corn, cheap grains, off flavors. Has the full compliment of a Balkan cheap lager, including the super green packaging. Drinkable, yes, if not in a 2L warm bottle. But still headache around the corner and nothing tasty happening here. Rough.

0,5l bottle. It has golden color, short lasting head, aroma is some hops and corn, and it tastes the same. Not really good and interesting beer, but it is drinkable.

0.5 l bottle. Yellow with medium sized head. Corn, hay, some pale grainy malt in aroma. Flavor was lightly sweet, also corny with some hay and only hints of herbal bitterness. Thinner to medium body with moderate, somewhat acidic finish. Definitely not good, cheap, boring and unnecessary on our market, but I wouldn’t even bet regular Karlovacko is better nowadays.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2013 My first reaction to the addition of this to the site yesterday was "hm... since when is Karlovačka contr... nonono Sokol’s one of Efes Russia’s brands, not Heineken’s". Then I saw the commercial description in Croatian.... Then I found it in a store today...

The sheer stupidity of the marketing department of this brewery, its’ obliviousness to the development of the world of beer, its blatant disregard of any development, potential or existing, of the Croatian brewing scene is incredible. A bunch of clowns, that’s what they are. THE LAST THING THE CROATIAN BEER MARKET NEEDED WAS ANOTHER BLOODY PALE LAGER! Each cent (or lipa) invested in those incompetent fools is wasted. A half-assed attempt at making a lower-tier beer to a beer that’s already low-tier (regular Karlovačko), but which they are trying to push as sorta "premium" without any improvements to the beer itself. On the contrary. And the design? Someone was actually PAID for this? Most people could do a better job in MS Paint. The slogan? Revitalizes the soul and the body? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? The entire package just screams "crap". As "brand-conscious" as they are, one would’ve thought that they’d actually TRY while introducing a new one. Not. And here we were thinking that they were, for once, moving in the right direction, after the revived the all too ordinary (but appreciated as "different") Karlovačko Crno.

The beer itself? The expected pissy pale yellow-golden with a medium sized head that went away relatively fast. The nose alternates between ordinary grassy hop and soft baker’s yeast with a note of maltiness. Crappy grassy hop, light metallic notes, light light cabbage, sligthly sweaty, some sweetness pushes through and it feels kinda corny. They haven’t revealed the ingredients so we won’t know, will we... The finish is green apple hop, devoid of any proper bitterness. Not really appealing... Go away falcon, you are redundant.

Bottled 500ml. -from local Konzum supermarket. Pale golden coloured, small to medium sized airy white head, cheap corn in the nose. Weak malty, corn and slight vegetables taste with minimal hops and short watery finish. Drinkable almost like supermarket beers. No need to say anything else except Great job Heineken...again.
