Had this February 2011 sitting by a pool in Cozumel from a bottle to an exotic plastic cup. Not much to it other than some malt and slight bitter, but who gives a rip. I was sitting in 80 degree weather when it was 10 degrees back home checking out some fine women in bikinis pounding these bad boys.

12 oz. bottle at a Mexican joint. Standard fizzy yellow beer. Aroma is basically indistinct, as is the taste. A bit of sweet malt, a light lager hopping, but overall noteable for a well balanced carbonation. Blah...its another of the standard yellow Mexican pale lagers.

Originally rated November 2005. Alright... my Tropical Beerfest continues with Sol. This one has a best before date on the neck of the clear bottle: 160406. Pours a pale yellow colour, just like Corona Extra, but this one has very tiny particules floating around. The head is slightly bigger and the lacing is better. Ah ha... this beer has a nose and flavours. Grain malt is found, but something else which I cannot put my tongue on. Maybe some little dark fruit. Mild bitterness throughout. Same watery mouthfeel. Says it is imported by New Zealand... nice detour. A small notch better than Corona. Dos Equis Amber is still better for a Mexican brew.

Bottle. And 1.1 is probably generous. I desperately wanted to not be a beer snob and find something worthwhile in this, but, My God, it’s truly terrible. "An exciting aroma and flavor of malt" - errr...no. A taste of cheap, nasty brandy is the only characteristic I could glean from this rotten swill. Watery, bland and soul-less

4.5% very pale yellow and no head, no aroma, not much taste (no wonder it is drunk from the bottle with wedge of lime in the neck), bland.

At least corona tastes good, this is a crappy macro.lager, with metalic aroma and taste, its refreshing, yes it is, but is one of th worst tasting beers available

330ml bottle. Aroma is sweet corn malt and a touch of skunk. Poured a medium gold with a thin porous head that went away almost immediately. Taste is a tangy sweet corn and wet cardboard, kind of a soggy tortilla, with grain and sour on the finish. Body is not as thin as I expected, very little carbo. Overall, less skunky but less refreshing than Corona. Hard to say if it is better. Go with XX with Mexican food.
